Tell me about being stuck in the snow.

Me and my dad were comming back from picking my mom up at work. As you may of heard there were fat snow storms in soutern ontario where i live. So were comming back to my house and we attempt to go down our road which was proablly 1 foot or two high in snow. We got stuck and i just spent the last hour and a half shoveling out snow to get the van unstuck. And now i got frost bite on my ankle

The Gnome should tell his story, he had a pretty crazy one in senseless banter.

Thank you. I like it because it's like an oxymoron but a picture of an oxymoron.

      Certainly:

This Thursday it snowed a meager 7-9 inches of snow. Not bad, right? The only problem was that every human being in the CT-RI-MA area left work/school AT THE SAME TIME.

I don't know if any of you heard this on the news, but the streets were literally like parking lots. No one was moving. People were running out of gas on the highways, cars breaking down, some people got so angry that they just abandoned vehicles on roads, exacerbating the problem. It looked like the apocalypse - minor to major crashes scattered about, cars every which way on the sides of roads, people running about with shovels trying to unstick cars one at a time...

It took my dad 9 hours to get from Boston to North Kingstown, and some poor Providence School students got stuck on buses until NINE O'CLOCK at night, some even later!

Worst traffic conditions since the blizzard of '78.

If you are going to be driving and there is the possibility that you will get stuck in the snow you should have:
      blankets
      water
      flashlights
      kitty litter
      a shovel
      a cell phone

The blankets are to keep you warm if you are stuck for a long time.
The water is to help you stay hydrated.
The flashlights can be used to help you see if it is dark, or for signalling for help.
The kitty litter is to be spread under and around your tires to add traction.
The shovel is for digging your car out if you are really stuck, or for chipping away ice and snow around your tires.
And the cell phone is for calling help or a tow truck if you are in big trouble. Hopefully you will be in a service area when you get stuck.

That's what I always have in my car in the winter. I've never needed to call for help because with the shovel and kitty litter I've always managed to get myself unstuck.

My mom sometimes get stuck in the driveway to our house, but we usually just put some wood and other stuff underneath the tires (well in front of them, know what I mean ) and then a lot of shoveling. Then some pushing and pouff, the damn thing usually unstuck.
Only once have we had to abandon the car in the driveway, and return a bit later, with more power and new ideas.

We once got stuck in the summer, in some mudpool stuff, it was nasty. Got some help from some people nearby, and got it out.

Your situation sounds a bit cruel though. How did you manage to get a frostbite O.o?

      Michiganders don't get stuck.

Sometimes we have to push harder... and we do occasionally blow a transmission out in the process of being Not Stuck, but no. Don't know what you might be referring to.

I was stuck outside of the international centre after the Alexisonfire concert praying for a cab to take my friends and I back to the subway. After waiting an hour outside in the blowing snow, the bus finally came before we were ever able to hail a cab(we called and were told there was a minimum 2 hour wait). Sucked.
