Tell me what I could use for Weights

Okay, I'm trying to make some weighted wrist straps like ones used for weight lifting, but I want to wear them on a regular basis so I'm making them more like leather bracers with weights in them. My question is, does anyone know of something that would be easy to use for weights? I'm looking for flat metal pieces about 4 or five inches long and about 1in wide that are commonly used for some other purpose so that they will be easy to find and I won't have to get them custom made.

I'm just going to say those weight bands that you put around your wrists and ankles are terrible ideas. They do a number on your joints, and don't really accomplish much else. If you want to get stronger, work out, I can try to point you in the direction as far as exercises to accomplish whatever you want. So why do you want to wear them anyway?

Yeah those constant weights sound like a get-ripped-quick scheme to me... working out isn't too bad, just throw together a plan (mine goes for 3 months) consisting of exercises to work the muscles you want to get bigger/stronger.

      LD Tasks:
      [ ] Have a bloody LD
[ ] Play lead guitar and/or vocals in a rock concert with TONS of people (yeah I've been playing a lot of Rock Band lately... lol)
[ ] Beat the tar out of select people...

      I agree with MrBeezly.

I think the best weight is your own body. Get a pull-up bar, and you've basically got a gym for all your muscles

Yeah a pull-up bar and a very basic set of free hand weights mixed in with push-ups and somewhere to run will go a LONG way when used correctly.

However it's your choice, so I'll actually answer the question you're asking now
I don't know if this idea is any good or just crap, but maybe just those lead bars made for melting down and weighting other things... you would definitely want to cover them very well or something though. I just thought it fit the weight and shape criteria.

Thanks, none of you answered my question. I know how to work out; and I do it on a regular basis. I hate to be rude, but if you don't have an answer to my question and instead simply want to tell me not to do the thing I'm asking about, there's no need to comment. I have all of the information on working out that I need.

Edit; except I guess Limo, who still felt the need to throw some unasked for info in there. The rest of you; completely useless.

Well, I didn't answer your question because weighted wrist and ankle straps are a dumb idea. They put weight at your extremities, and put undue strain on your joints without actually benefiting you. Ignore this if you want, but really it's for your own good.

If you really need to do this, just go to a hardware store and walk up and down the aisles. Look for flat brackets used to connect pieces of wood. They should come in a bunch of different dimensions, you'll find something to fit your needs.

Melt down metal and smelt it into little bricks, then put them in pouches and strap them to yourself under your clothing.

Or you could buy a jacket and put lead weights in it.

Yeah there are a number of ways to do this, but don't get too upset when people try to help you - they're right when they say it's just going to destroy your joints.

What I wanna know is why you want to wear them on a regular basis anyways?

Just carry your woman over your shoulder all day; that's what they're for. Well, that and a few select other things, but you get the idea I'm sure.

That's gotta suck on your knees. You'll develop plantar fasciitis very quickly with that thing, especially if you do exercise with it on.

Although strength is part of it, its more to improve speed. If while doing daily tasks, I get used to moving my arms at normal speeds with more weight, my reactions will be faster once I take them off.
