Since we are all here. Can someone tell me something I still haven't figured out. I have a clue but I'm not sure. So, tell me the difference between:
      parents' (Does this even exist?)
      parent's

      Thanks for any answers.

OK. If my mum is here, and she's brought her teapot, then it is the parent's teapot, because there is one parent, and she has a teapot.

If there is a parents' evening and all the parents have one teapot between them, then it is the parents' teapot, because there are many parents.

You don't often have to write about it though, and they both sound the same when you say them.

Words usually end in an ' if they end on an s, but still are in plural. For example "the kids' football".

Kids because they are many, kid's because they own the football. Thus we get kids'.

Now we just need 4 more people explaining how it works.

Just to clarify here, he means they end in an apostrophe when they are possessive but still plural (that is, many people or things own the other thing)

I think he means that when the word is plural but also possessive then it ends in apostrophe.

Just not sure if anyone was able to get that....

      (2nd person to explain)
