Tell me how to sing well.

I like singing but unfortunately I think the only thing that can stand my voice is my shower head.

A few people have said I had a good voice but I don't trust their opinions lol.

Anyways so tell me how to sing well/better if you know how.

Bare with me if you watch the video below...I was going off of what I remembered the song sounded like, and I was reading lyrics off of a page hehe.

Dude, I think there is definitely potential with that voice. For apparently not having much experience or really knowing "what" you're doing, it's real good. You missed a couple of notes here and there but the basic gist is in there.

I would probably suggest getting a singing teacher, at least for a couple of weeks to get the basics done. With some work on breathing and just general voice work and letting it "out" with a little more passion, I could imagine some huge improvements being made. Especially considering your young age, I could only take a fair guess about how good it would sound with a couple years of honest practice. That's not to say it's not good already, but like any instrument, singing does require years of practice as well, with permanent progress being made though. So, yeah, DO IT.

Ok, I'm gonna be honest with you here: your voice is not that good. Your voice is potentially good.

I've always wondered what the hell those people were doing in the first round of Idols (hate that bloody show) thinking they were great singers, and I think the main reason for that are friends or family that are afraid to tell them the truth. Thus, I've decided to just always tell people the truth when they ask if they can sing.

That is not to say there is not a good voice hidden somewhere in you. You can hear it, especially in the lower parts. If you're willing to invest some time in this, it wouldn't surprise me if a good voice would come out . My tip:

Get a teacher. Really. Take your local newspaper now, and search for singing teachers. Do it! You can learn so much more from a teacher (breathing exercises, very important) than some lousy tips on the internet.

      Good luck!

Thx Stenny. I think my voice would be better if I didn't have to try to keep the noise level down, its hard to hit note when you don't have the force behind them that are necessary.

Anyways, like I said lol, my shower head is the only thing that can stand my singing =P. I agree about the idol thing, if your voice isn't WOW, or DAMN! worthy, you shouldn't even bother trying out lol. Like me for example, im karaoke night guy, not idol guy.

Towards the end I got bored of the song though hehe.

I think the most important piece of advice to give in regard to singing ability is to sing from your diaphragm and not to put all of the stress on the vocal chords. Exhale from deep within your lungs as you sing. Don't exhale shallow breaths that have most of the force coming from your throat. But also don't put all of the force on your diaphragm. Make the force come from your diaphragm and go very strongly out of your mouth and hard into the air. Diaphragm singing will give you much more strength and control, and that does a lot to kill flat and off key tendencies. A voice coach will be able to show you in person what I am talking about.

From there, practice a lot. You sound like you could be really good at it.

"Sing a little song for me"

As long as you think your voice sounds good entertain your self, and friends galore(because they will love ya no-matter,I hope so at least). Just don't go starting a concert at a party unless you get asked to sing by every one you know.

You can hit a note pretty clear there, but it besides that, you're just not a good singer.

But it's not like it really matters. It's just something some people can and can't do. Just like a bunch of other stuff. I don't know why people take singing so seriously.
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

well you do have potential.you need to project and learn the scale and notes and stuff.lol. i used to be in chorus and i don't remember a lot but i can give you tips.my problem was i did not sing loud enough. so project and try to get a clear sound.not fuzzy or buzzy.you can do breathing excercises to help but don't sing too loudly!if you can't hear the rest down with the chest!lol. sorry(it's coming back...)also you have to excersise your diaphram, try breathing with your stomach not your chest.it will help.some silly excesises that really help are just singing random noises(had to do it in voice lessons to warm up)like laladaodkilabatralalasaamdedaatree daki!and practice the scale!do re mi fa so la ti do!up and own and up and down again and try to go higher and lower alsoafteryou get that down.

Well, it's not like you can't teach yourself. When I started playing guitar and stuff I couldn't sing worth shit... I've improved exponentially.

(Hell, I even sang in front of 300 last Wednesday)

Just keep working at it - and put more power into the voice, you don't sound enthusiastic about it at all.

Were they Spartans? Bahahahaha I crack myself up. My uncle was in a Doo-wop band that performed in front of 15,000 people. Eek.

Ayuh. That's something I hate about my stage prescence. I freak out. Like. Ian Anderson kind of freaking out. I cannot sing "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" without dropping to my knees and... belting. Like, singing loudly and powerfully, but in a good way. It's just... kind of disturbing because I never act like that otherwise.

What exactly is "Ian Anderson kind of freaking out"? I am a huge Jethro Tull fan, and it sounds like you might have an interesting story.

Ok so I made another video...well, its one song but I had to split it up into 3 vids due to some audio glitches.

I had to stop twice because I couldn't read the lyrics lol. My eyes have been bugging out lately. When I tried to splice them into one video it gave a mechanical sound to it so...

Sorry if I lack luster or whatever, i'm feeling depressed right now.

      Part one 48 seconds long

      Part two 90 seconds

      Part three 30 seconds

Sorry, but do you have like a giant bleeding wound on your head? If not, I reckon it would sound even better if you'd sit up straight, control your breath and put some energy into it.

Yeah, in requirement to singing well you need enthusiasm. Those videos you just posted weren't bad, but not great.
