I want to know the languages you know and how well you know them.

I was raised to speak English.
I took a year of spanish in school.
I've been studying German on my own and in school for 4 months.

      I was raised on English
I took 3 semesters of French in high school. I had two different teachers. The first one was pretty laid back and we didn't learn too much. The second one pretty much didn't teach the whole semester. We watched non-French movies during class and I played cards and paper football with friends most of the time.
I took 2 semesters of German in college.
I know a small bit of Spanish and an even smaller bit of Japanese.

Weird, I've never heard someone say, "I was raised to speak English."

Anyway, my native language is Russian, I grew up speaking English and Russian, I took like 8 years of French, one semester of Telugu, one semester of Chinese, and am currently studying Korean in Korea. Yea!

My first language is Urdu. I spoke English growing up. My mom taught (and is still teaching) me to speak Punjabi. I can understand Sindhi. I've been taking French for 5 years, on my 6th year.

      Eye talk inglish rayel gud.

Took one year of Spanish in 7th grade.
Then our teacher died and I got transferred into French for 8th grade.
Then I took 3 years of Italian in high school. I dicked around in school though, so I can barely hold a basic conversation in Italian, although I know enough to understand and follow basic instructions and conversations... I just can't reply back properly.
Currently learning Irish Gaelic, German and reinforcing my (very basic) knowledge of Italian on my own.

My first language is french (Je suis franco-ontarien) and I also speak english (obviously! haha). I'm Canadian, but not from québec, so I didn't really have a choice to learn english growing up. I still have a hard time with english prononciation and people make fun of my "Henglish" haha. But its cool, my accent gives me identity. Vive la langue française!

      English is my native language.
I've taken Spanish for 3 years at school.
I've taken one year of Latin, but i got the shitty teacher so i ended up having a hard time in that class and not wanting to take any more then one year.
I'm currently taking French 1 for the first time this year, it is very simple so far and can be useful given my location.
I took a semester of American Sign Language over the summer. I'm interested in taking more years of that in the future.

      Native English speaker
Studied Russian for four years. I'm planning to go there to (I hope) increase my fluency and actually force myself to speak to people in Russian.
Took a few years in high school and a few years in college of Spanish but found it kind of boring so I stopped.
I know a couple phrases in Japanese, but that's next on my list to learn.
Then I think it would be cool to learn Swahili.

I speak native English, pretty good Esperanto, and alright French. I used to know the basics of Romanian, but of course, I forgot them.

I can't wait until this semester is over. Then I'll be done with the French course I'm doing at university, and I'll be able to learn something else.

Erm I speak American English. Also, I learned little little bits and baby phrases in Hungarian. I took two semesters of French during highschool (though the little I learned was hazy), and I am currently being forced to learn Spanish to graduate from college

For anyone who wants to learn basic French, or help them out while learning some intro French stuff, pick up the book The Avion My Uncle Flew. It's amazing! It's a short little chapter book that integrates and teaches you French while you read it. Nothing in depth, just little stuff. The words that are taught to you in that book are the ones I remember best.

I'm jealous! I love languages. I wish I knew more.

My first language was Spanish. I was thrown into kindergarten not knowing anything but "It's Shake 'n Bake, and I helped", but caught on quick to the language.

I learned French in highschool, and when I lived in Spain, my senior year of highschool, I spent two weeks in Paris, and got a hang of French. Fifteen years later, all I know is "Je parlez francais une petite", lol.

i'd love to learn more languages, if I had the time.

Yes, that's the correct way of saying "I don't speak French". You need to throw in that 'pas' anytime you are refering to something negative, I think.

Technically, yes. But it is common to leave off the 'pas' in conversation. Lazyspeak and all.
