like deciding who you want to be and making yourself that way.

haha funny you mention that coz were studying that at uni atm lol but yea i do it. well not exactly like that though but i do believe that what you say about yourself and other ppl carries alot of weight. for example if i tell myself that i'm gunna fail an exam i prob will or wont do too well but if i'm confident in myself and say that i'm gunna do well i generally do. pretty lame example but you can apply it to other aspects of life aswell. your whoever you want to be man. be who ever you want to.
well originally i'm from wellsford. it's bout an hour north of auckland, by warkworth but i've just moved to Mt Albert in auckland for uni. wbu? wea you from? haha i only just noticed you were from nz!

This essay, which is actually the first chapter of a book called The Sacred Canopy. Elements of a Sociological Theory of Religion by Peter Berger is a really good read, and I think pertains to what you are asking about. Its about religion, but most of it is about man's general perception of himself and the world around without talking about religion specifically.
