I want to take physics next year, (my senior year of high school) but I have pretty poor grades in Algebra 3-4 which is what I'm taking now. It is required to have at least taken the Algebra 3-4 class, but I really don't think I have a good enough understanding of it. I'm going to take college algebra next year regardless, and I will study my ass off. I have also signed up for physics next year as well.
Basically I want to know how much math you need to know and how hard it is and the basic concepts that need to be learned. Also, what kind of things do you do in the class? I'm not taking this class to get college credit or anything, but rather just because I have an interest in physics and it seems like it would be a good challenge for me.
But most of all, I would love to impress my parents with an "A" in physics because I have been a pretty bad student for my entire school career up until this point. I want to prove to myself that I can work my ass off and accomplish this, even though it will probably be hell. Also, it would be fun to be able to brag about the fact that I'm in the hardest class the school has to offer and to be able to shower people with complex math equations and language, haha. Not to mention, this stuff actually comes in handy in the real world, and a basic understanding of physics would be a valuable tool to have.
