      Tell me about Costa Rica!!!

So me and a friend we rappin about school and stuff, and she mentioned her Spanish exam is on Tuesday. I asked her if she was fluent and she said no, but she wants to learn it so she can go to Costa Rica. I told her about my desire to go there for at lease a few weeks in the near future and she said we should go together sometime this year.

I'd love to go, but I don't know jack about the cost... how much money should I have for at least two weeks and potentially a month down there?

We were talking about just renting a hut on the beach or something instead of falling into any tourist trap hotels.

I have a cousin who lives there and another cousin who lives there for about half of every year. They said American money is worth a great deal in Cost Rica. I am not sure exactly what the ratio is, though. They also said violence is not a problem there but that robbery is. It is not as taboo there as it is here to break into somebody's house and steal their stuff. If you call the cops about a break in or stolen possessions, they will laugh at you. They also tell me that most of the women there are prostitutes. The women don't necessarily pull tricks for full time jobs, but just about every woman supposedly has her price. Drunk driving is virtually legal as long as you don't screw up while you're driving, and the people laugh their asses off when they hear about American open container laws. You can drink cans of beer pretty much anywhere. Also, the country is extremely beautiful.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

all this, and watch out for AIDS. lol

and i'm sure they won't laugh at you if you call 911.

as for money.... you could make it pretty cheap, or super expensive. it depends on what you want to do, and how many hookers/drugs you need.

No hookers, and only the basic drugs

I'm checking travel guides and stuff... but all I can really find are like "Costa Rica for Families"... I don't care about that, I want "Costa Rica for 2 young adults who want to have a great time in a tropical paradise" lol.

What should we look to do?

Backpacking/hiking is always good as Costa Rica is quite picturesque.

I don't know where you live, but im assuming its not tropical so the beach is a must.

Other than that what types of things do you usually do on vacation/holiday?

I'm from Buffalo, NY. So no, our beaches are pretty much used for parties and bonfires and that's it. lol

Idk what I do on vacation. My last vacation was when I was 12, and we drove to Georgia and stayed at my grandma's house.

Oh hey! I just got back from a week long trip there with my school on the 21st! best. vacation. EVER!!! If you got any questions just ask . $1 is about 500 colones, and the smallest bill is 1000. Everything is about the same price or maybe a lil more. And the women... oh my the women... beautiful... *sniff* heaven. And I suggest you get a hotel, try going to drake bay, look it up. Beautiful view and beach. and it's kind of like a hut but a very nice hut. theyll also teach you the costa rican dances and try to get the honeymoon suite haha it has an amazaing view.
      I have a dream...

I know a guy in my class who goes down there every year, it seems like. But, I don't ask him too much about it.

Other than that, I can't really tell you much. I've never left the tri-state area in my entire life.

You have GOT to get out of there and see the ocean. Life is missing something without doing that once in a while. Since you have never seen the ocean before, you should shock yourself by seeing it for the first time on the Gulf side of Florida.

I love the Gulf of Mexico, went down to Florida a few times when I was a wee lad. Sarasota, Florida is one of my favorite vacation spots... the white sand... gorgeous.
