      WBTB in the longer term

I'm finding that WBTB is becoming less and less effective over time (been doing it religiously since the start of September).

Is it a good idea to take breaks? Is it known to be less effective over time? How long should a break be?

I don't think that WBTB is getting less effective, even if it does, your mind would be well practiced to do Lucid Dreaming just before the WBTB technique becomes non-effective .
Another thing is that you didn't mention the technique used with the WBTB, try to use one of those techniques : http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/lucid-...hniques-69883/
Or if you are already using one, try to switch to another .

Sometimes I feel the same way. For me, I often go through dryspells and I sometimes fear that my techniques are becoming less effective. I'll have several lucids one week, then none the next week. But I find that my lucid rate is always higher when I do WBTB. So think, at least for me, the critical factor is something else, like planning or confidence. Consider what other factors might be helping or hindering your lucids.

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

I got to the point where I was having a 50 percent success (approximate) rate, then had two LDs one night, one the next, then three the next, then nothing. I had about six consecutive days without LD and I've decided to take a break from WBTB. I'm a little perplexed as to the reason why it stopped working but, on a positive note, there are some other techniques I want to experiment with to see if they can work without WBTB.
