Did I have a LD? How can I be sure?

      Hello everyone,

I got into LDing about a year ago. After trying for some time I finally had a LD (recognized a dream sign), which was short but awesome.

I gave up on it after a while though, and now I'm back trying.

Last night (well, actually this morning) on my first attempt, I set my alarm for about 5 hours after going to bed, and when I woke up I laid there for a bit and relaxed, visualizing my class room (it was the first place that came to mind), feeling out stuff, etc. After a bit, I started to feel the transition into the dream, the room started to become real, heard some weird noises and BAM, I was in the dream.
At least that's what I think happened. I remember thinking: "Wow I'm actually in the dream now!" but after a while I lost lucidity and it became just another dream.

My question is, how can I be sure that it actually happened? I remember the dream, and waking up thinking: "I did it!" but I can't be 100% sure about all of it. Could it have been all just a dream? I can't say for sure that I didn't fall asleep immediately and from that point on it was all a dream. I was still too sleepy when I started visualizing.

My first LD was way clearer than this one too, so I don't know! Any advice would be appreciated.

If at any point in the dream you knew it was a dream, then it was a lucid dream. You just didn't remain lucid for the entire dream.

yup I totally agree, from what you said I'm sure you were lucid, just remember to stabilize and remind your self that it is a dream.

It was just too easy then, has anyone else gotten into a LD just by visualizing a room?
How can I avoid this happening again? Do I just keep reminding myself that it's a dream?

Keep the concept of a dream on your mind, always have something going on in your mind to remind you you are dreaming. Even the best on the forums lose lucidity at points, so don't worry to much. The more practice you get the longer you can make them last.

I was watching this guys video once (not on here) and he said to avoid travel on foot because your mind will always come up with a good distraction that will make you lose lucidity. He said either 1) don't travel, or 2) do so by flying, teliportation etc. where there aren't any distractions.

By the way, welcome to the forums!

Mostly normal dreaming you can watching bizarre & outlandish things, but still remain unaware that you are dreaming.
      Practice, Practice,Practice
      Practice
to become lucid, and aware in the dream state. We need try and remember to wake up in the dream.

As you become more acquainted with your dreaming & "normal" state you will begin to recognize the difference in the two states and you will learn to stay aware longer.

I think you did fine and should do whatever works for you. Good luck during your next chance at lucidity.

I think what killed it for me was that the dream had nothing crazy going on. It was just a regular class, so I guess after a while I just thought it was real life.

Can't wait to see what happens tonight!
