Has anyone used naps to have a lucid dream?

I have never been able to have a lucid dream via a nap. In fact I'm not too good at naps period. Don't get me wrong.. there are times when I'm sleepy and will take a nap but when I wake up I regret that I took one. I'm just not one of those people who takes a nap and wakes up feeling all refreshed! I wake up feeling like someone stomped me (and I really have to fight the desire to just keep sleeping).

Just out of curiosity.. what is the appropriate time duration for a "nap".. is it 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 ?

And for those who have been successful having LDs from a nap.. what did you do.. confirmations, counting, etc.?

One of my recent LD's was during a nap. I'm not really a napper either, I was just catching up on lost sleep from that morning. I didn't use any techniques cuz I wasn't expecting anything to happen.

But in the dream it was night time and I noticed how dark the sky was, and then I remembered it was only 1 o'clock in the afternoon when I laid down for my nap. I just instantly knew I had to be dreaming.

I'd really like to get better at WBTB's. But I'm the kinda person that once I'm awake, I'm awake for hours.

I'm the same Clairity and Pandragon. I have had a total of 4 naps in past 5 years of my life. I really dislike the feeling of tiredness during the day. Ive been thinking about taking a short sleep today actually to see if i can enter a Lucid Dream. Might try it after my Sunday Dinner

Im sure there are certain Techniques of attaining Lucidity while taking a short sleep.

Ok, Im a newb, but stick with me for a second ...

I only heard of LDs a couple weeks ago when I watched Waking Life. Since then I've had 2 LDs and both were during mid afternoon naps. The first one I wasn't trying to have a lucid dream at all, I didn't know anything about them, etc. I just realized I was dreaming because I looked at the digi clock in my Jeep (like in the movie, what the one guy says) and couldn't read it. It was really intense I ended up driving thru parked cars, and then made the Jeep fly. When I woke up I felt reallllly good. So thats when I started doing research about dreaming and googled this site up somehow.

But then I just had an LD like 2 hours ago while napping. I was HELLA thinking about having an LD before i fell asleep. I was only asleep for like 10 minutes before i woke up. In the dream i was going to the bathroom at my friends house that i was at last night. all a sudden 2 people (one guy, one girl) just come out of the shower laughing and stuff, and are both naked. they wave for me to follow them and then run out the door. I go to follow them and reach down at the doorknob. this is when i become lucid. I got really excited and started to float then i woke up. I was really mad that i woke up.

I guess all i can say is really concentrate on becoming lucid. Tell yourself you'll have one over and over while your lying down. I think its got alot to do with confidence

btw, I didn't take any vitamins or anything.

Personally I love naps. I can mostly sleep anywhere at any time if the mood strikes. I have had a few LD's in afternoon naps along with false awakenings. I have not been lucid in a while so I can't really tell you if I had any technique for my nap times lol. One time I do remember that I drank a Pepsi right before I went to sleep and had a pretty cool LD. I think that my mind tends to be more active in the day time because there seem to be more outside interruptions... noises and light and stuff.

I love to sleep so my naps tend to be between and hour and three hours. I too wake up sometimes not feeling any better than when I went to sleep. I find with me that a 15-30 min nap can be refreshing but if I go past 30 mins then I think you should try to get 3 hours for the best results. I just find that sometimes I feel worse if I don't get a full 3 hours... anyway that’s my two cents

I have most of my longest and most interesting lucids during day time naps. I've had a ton of "marathon lucids" where I just spend about 2 hours going from sp -> HI -> lucid -> back to sp -> HI -> lucid, over and over again. I have found that this way I can re-enter the same dream, go into a different dream...or try to struggle out of my body and maybe see what happens. It's a great time to experiment. In fact, I just woke up from a nap

I wouldn't doubt that I've had over half of my LDs in a nap, once I had a what felt like 4 hour dream in 20 minutes, I woke up in class and was like what the hell.

In Stephen LaBerge’s book Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming he says the REM periods are longer and stronger in the morning hours after a lot of sleep. Maybe you could try earlier naps before lunchtime.

Yeah, I nap most Saturday mornings, and that's when I get most of my LD's. When I have school off I nap too...

So how long do all of you nap? I usually nap for more than three hours, but apparently you guys don't nap as long...

I actually did this today. I flipped on Waking Life and about 15-20 minutes into it I started my WILD and kept going thru that same cycle (although I never re-entered the same dream 2x...) I didn't wake up untill the credits, thats an 80 minute long WILD. and I was exhausted! I didnt feel like i actually got any rest ... but it was one hell of a trip When I woke up I wrote almost a full page in my journal

btw, I've done a WILD everyday for the past 3 days during an afternoon nap. naps are the greatest thing ever.
