Dream Guides- Dream Messenger won't tell me their name?

I have heard of spirit guides and dream guides. I'm not sure if I get the difference. If someone delivers important information to you in a dream, are they considered to be a dream guide? I was wondering also about an incidence in a dream I had.

Dream guides and such are made up by your subconscious, so maybe them not telling you their name is a message in disguise - maybe too often you're looking at unimportant details such as someone's name and forgetting the importance in everything else around you?

Did they tell you something like "It's not time yet" or "You're not ready yet" , because I've red allot of those stories where people meet their (possible) dream guides for the first time and they tell them something allong those lines.
