I think Google Earth helped me get lucid last night..

I downloaded Google Earth last night and played with it for a long time. I thought about lucid dreaming, and how it was like a dream. In Google Earth, you can explore anywhere (which is one of my main desires in lucid dreaming). I enjoyed traveling to distant countries and looking at landmarks. Street view was really interesting. I enjoy just picking some random spot anywhere on the planet and going into street view. In street view the images get distorted and blurred, and it has a dream-like quality. You can even explore Mars, the Moon, and space. It really raised a lot of questions in me and made me think about dreaming. And when I went to sleep, I remember having a really vivid lucid dream. It's not exactly a method. It was probably just luck. But does anyone else have Google Earth and experienced something similar? I highly recommend it. It's really fun, even though it's super addictive!

I understand how that might happen, and get a similar feeling while exploring google earth. I see the mental connection between it and lucid dreaming. But I agree it wouldn't really work as a method. It wasn't entirely luck, as it did likely cause your lucidity, but it's not something I imagine would work generally. Google Earth is amazing. It seems so futuristic I can hardly believe such a thing exists. I was excited when it finally came to Canada.

      interesting.
I just downloaded it I won't be able to look at it directly before (I won't be at my house) but I will mess around with it through out the day

I am using Google Earth for quite some time now, but I never linked it to (lucid) dreaming. But it's an interesting approch. Perhaps browsing known streets having in mind, that the streetview movement / imageblur is similar how one percepts his surroundings in a dream might help focusing on it.

Thanks for all your replies! I can't honestly say that playing with Google Earth will get you lucid, but it's worth a download anyway, and you might be surprised at how much it reminds you of dreaming.

What a neat idea, I might use it the next time I try a WBTB technique, to get my mind flowing with visuals of flying over the earth. Thanks!
