      WILD, realising I'm dreaming

Here's one I didn't even think was possible, but it is.

I've found that if I think about a scene in my head, and use my imagination to play out that scene, I will enter right into a dream that is related to that scene without even realising it. It's because at one moment I'm imagining it, and the next my mind has ran with it and turned it into a dream I'm not even aware of, or controlling.

I don't seem to go through any of the stages of WILD when I enter dreams like this, though I will always dream if I fall asleep like that. No HI, no sounds, no vibrations and no SP, but I do enter into a dream straight from conciousness. The problem is, I do this without even realising it.

For instance, I was having a nap today, and was re-living in my head a time when I was at a friends house for a party, but I changed some things around and made some stuff up to make it more interesting. It went from my control over the story about the party (which was at night at my friends house) to the me being on a peer with a completely different friend and running along it for no reason, visuals as clear as real life.

The problem being, I'm not even aware of the transition until I've woken up, and then I'm kicking myself for not realising it.

I don't know if I can turn such a situation into a WILD or if I'm going about it all wrong. I find that trying the traditional methods of attempting a WILD -or at least the ones in the tutorials- have not worked well for me at all, but I can always get into a dream using this method.

Is there a way I can make myself more aware of this transition? Most people talk about SP or HI but the transition for me seems to be so smooth that I don't even notice it happening.

Perhaps I need to not get so caught up in the story... But at the same time, if I'm not caught up in it, a dream won't start.

One last thing I feel I ought to say is that I'm sorry to add to the ridiculously large mass of WILD topics out there. I've had natural LDs for a long while, but I've had a dry spell lately and I'd like to be able to induce LDs anyways. I find with LDing that the solutions are problems are very situational depending on the person, and more often than not, I will not find the answer I'm looking for in a different topic.

Thanks for any input that you can provide.

Split Infinity, this happens to me as well so I am looking forward to any replies that might contain an answer to this post!

Yeah, when I try to WILD I usually play scenes over in my head, but for some reason i try and stop them because i think that i might go into a non-lucid dream because when i play the scenes its kind like HI and im not lucid. Maybe next time ill go with it.

You know, that almost sounds like MILD to me. You are incubating the dream in your imagination and then entering it after you are asleep.

THave you tried the " am dreaming <nsert number here> " counting thing while you are doing this?

Also, maybe try to incubate a reality check into your thoughts as you are imagining it. Maybe image breathing through your pinched nose.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Doesn't sound like WILD or MILD to me since you weren't lucid. You fell asleep and started to dream - hard to be aware of the transition when you're unconsious.

But if you did realize in your dream that you were now dreaming what you imagined before bed (i.e. it is a dreamsign) then I'd say, like Seeker, that it is a MILD. To WILD you have to stay conscious through the transition from awake to dreaming, and of course be lucid in the dream, which you weren't.

You said they're related, but your imagined scene and dream didn't sound anything alike to me, so I don't know how you would've connected the two to become lucid though.

I've tried the counting thing before, but never both at the same time, so I'll try that out next.

I never said it was a WILD or MILD, merely the steps leading up to it, or so it would seem. If I had actually succeeded in either, I wouldn't be posting this topic.

Also incorporating a reality check might work very well too.

Excellent ideas, I will try them and post on if they worked or not.
