      My biggest fail

So i was in a dream and i was walking on a street near my neighborhood. As i was walking, i just suddenly asked myself am i dreaming? But then I thought to myself no its impossible.. So then i said if i was dreaming i could fly, so i jump up with my hand pointing up to the sky and i just land back down normally and the dream(s) continue..

I think the reason for this was that now a days, i dont really take Lucid dreaming that seriously.. I just stopped doing reality checks and instead just ask myself now and then "am i dreaming" but in real life, I know im not.. Consciously im just saying it without meaning.. So that passed on to my dream life and i didnt question myself enough in the dream to become lucid.. But now i think about it, the dream felt so real, the breeze, sky, sun etc. and nothing was out of place, so i dont blame myself

From now on, it will be easier because you have just experienced how realistic and convincing dreams can be.
So the next time you notice something strange (while awake) and perform a RC you will be have that tiny, genuine doubt about your condition.
And that's great, because that's how RCs are supposed to work. Don't think of this as a failure, you have actually made a bit of progress

Just think- everytime something happens in a dream or whatever and you think about making a topic on DV, or noting it down somewhere, or whenever something different happens- it is almost always a step forwards. Negative progress is anything from not recalling dreams etc to recalling dreams... but nothing else. If nothing changes at all, thats bad.

I've been having to really change the way I RC within the past couple of days, things like what you are all describing were happening often. The first several lucid dreams I had, looking at my hands worked every time. They looked completely fine in my dream the other night though, and so did everything about where I was. It is very nice to be seeing this thread right now, thanks to all of you.

On a similar note, has anyone else noticed an increase in strange "coincidences" or synchronicities in waking life as dream recall develops, or is it just that we pay them a lot more attention?

Hm... not really. One thing I started doing which may or may not help you is to buy or get a band and wear it on your wrist. I watch would do fine as well. As long as you don't usually wear one. If you do, take it off. Then everytime you notice the new band or the lack of it, do an R.C. and keep the band in your mind. Eventually in a dream you will notice your band, or lack of one, and R.C. in your dream.

This works better than just remembering to look at your hands every once in a while because the band will always make you think of R.C.s, where as just your hands might not make you remember all the time.
