Welcome!

What works best for me personally is a combination of MILD and WBTB. This can help with waking up in the middle of the night without an alarm, also. When you are first going to sleep, repeat to yourself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember my dream". This usually causes me to awaken after 4-6 hours, with a dream fresh in my mind. You could also try "I will wake up after sleeping for x hours" -- with some experimenting, you'll find out what your sleep cycles are and how long you should sleep before trying to LD -- sleep cycles are generally about 90 minutes (mine seem to be slightly shorter than that), and you should usually get in 3-4 cycles before attempting a WBTB.

Once you have awakened, try your best to recall your dream. Write down whatever you can remember. Then remain awake for 30-45 minutes, doing something that keeps your mind on lucid dreaming (like reading DV forums ). It sometimes helps to have a soda or chocolate bar -- the caffiene can help to keep your conscious mind working when you go back to bed.

When you return to bed, repeat to yourself, "I will realize that I'm dreaming", or something else that you think will help you become lucid in your dreams.

When I am getting enough sleep and not overly stressed, this method works pretty well for me, resulting in at least 2-3 LDs in a week.

Good luck!
