      WILD different for different people?

Well, Ive talked to different people. Ive looked up different tutorials on how to WILD. In seekers tutorial with the 5 phases, he suggested to waken yourself up to get ready for WILD, such as a cafinated beverage, chocolate etc.. Now people Ive talked to say thats just crazy. Also I dont remember seeing anything in his tutorial that said anything about staying up a while to wake your mind up a bit, but ive seen other tutorials that say this. Ive talked to people who say, right when their alarm goes off, they just try to go right to WILDing, while others say they get up for half an hour to keep their mind from falling asleep. Now im guessing that if you have a hard time trying to go to sleep, you would take the method of going straight to WILDing after you wake up, or if your the other way, you would stay up for as long as you needed to. This is all what Im assuming, any input on this?

I would guess that caffiene is not great. You want your body asleep and your mind awake. Caffiene is going to increase your heart rate and affect your physical body - which is not great for keeping it relaxed.

I've gone to the bathroom - and I allow my body to stay very tired and sleepy - but I clear up my mind. Meditation has been a great help to me. It allows your mind to learn how to be sharp and focussed - in spite of the state of your emotions or body. If I feel groggy and even somewhat depressed - I can still achieve a highly focussed awareness of this state - without changing the state. It is this focus of mind that has made it very easy for me to achieve the first stages - or transition stages of a WILD.

I've done that for a long while now - but I only recently even learned about WILDs. I used to get into these extreme electrical fits - and try to ride them out - but they would get so intense I had to wake myself up before I couldn't handle the level of energy I was receiving. Only days ago did I learn about WILD - and that I could pass through this stage to get into dreaming. The night I learned about this was the first time I was able to get to the next stage and allow the electrical surge to subside by catching on to something I was seeing in my room and starting a scrolling wall of dream images. However - I eventually ended up waking up. Not with a start. I just saw all black - and was pretty sure that I was fully awake. Slowly opened my eyes to make sure they didn't open in the dream world...but they opened in the real world. Even did a reality check.

Sorry. Slight tangent because I wanted to share where my experience level was at. But - to get back to the main point - it is about having a focussed mind without waking your body. If you can do that in a minute - that's all it takes. I just tell myself that I am very familiar (from during the day) - with the feeling of a focussed mind. If I go back to bed - it is clear to me when my mind feels just as groggy as my body. You know when you are going to drift off into never-never land without a clue. If you have that feeling - your mind is not focussed or awake or whatever you want to call it.

Ok well basically you really just need to figure out what works best for you. There are alot of different methods out there b/c there are alot of different things that work for different people. I would suggest that you mess around with a few different strategies and find out for yourself...it's really the only way to know for sure. Just remember that it will take alot of practice and patience.

      Good luck!

It is different for many. You will find you have certain times where it just works well. For me, the best time is at about 3 hours of sleep where I'll get up, use the bathroom, and WILD right into a dream, with little or no effort in a matter of 1-2 minutes.

The good things about doing it so early in the night is, you achieve a very deep LD. Also, its very easy to get to sleep. The setbacks on this method are.. if you screw up, you will sleep the whole night, because you will most likely be tired. Some people find it hard to focus, I find it easier oddly enough when I focus my mind on something like a hard piece of homework, and then goto sleep. My main problem is keeping focus, you should be tired so not too many thoughts fly.. but you shouldn't be so tired where your brain basically shuts down.
      Just keep moving…

Indeed the WILD is different for everybody.
For me, it is almost impossible to stay up for 30 min and then rapidly fall asleep. I'll stay awake tossing and turning for another hour and a half before finally giving up or WILDing... That's not a very good deal.

There are faster ways that have about the same chance of success. For example wake up in the middle of a night and drift off consciously. It takes almost no time and you can do it many times over..

There's an interesting method of WILD: "sneaking your awareness in a dream". Basically you start visualizing something and lose all but a small flicker of your awareness.

Visualization unfolds and engulfs you. However, you are not aware of it, you just follow it as if it was a dream... After some time (1-3 min, it's hard to measure time) your body decides it's safe to fall asleep and there's a WILD onset. Normally you'll miss it, but the tiny flicker of awareness that is left alerts you of that fact and you become fully aware during the WILD onset...
I've had several WILDs induced by this method, and now I found the exact same method in a book about OoBEs

The best method for me is when you wake up the morning dont open your eye and doze off then youl wake and this time stay consious and concentrate on the images now youl feel the vibrations stay consious and then think of a landscape and boom your there!
