      HRC's (Habit Reality Checks)

This is an interesting technique that I made up. It is called HRC or Habit Reality Checks. How it works is that everyone has a habit. Almost everyone knows their habit, and will do it subconsiously. I for example, twirl my hair (I'm not proud of it ). I'm going to tell you how to use habits in a good way.

      Step 1:

When your habit starts, go along with it for a few seconds (I can almost guarantee you will any way, because it is controled subconsiously).

      Step 2:

When you notice you are doing you habit, Do a reality check. For example: If you are biting you nails, before you stop think "Can I feel myself biting something?" then look at your nail that you were biting and think "Can I see the piece of the nail that I bit off?"

Thats the technique! It should work better if you use the most frequently occuring habit that you have. Also, any time you are cutting your nails ask yourself if you can feel the pressure from the clipper on your nail, if you heard a snap as the nail was clipped, and is The piece of the nail gone now.

I hope this helps some people who are having trouble. Remember you may have to do this for up to a month before it starts working. It depends on the person.

      Good luck !

      SOBB, very interesting technique!

I don't know what my habit is at the moment but I'm gonna think on it some more and see if I can't come up with one!

      Thanks for sharing!

im sorry but do u really twirl your hair when you are sleeping?.. I dont think this technique could work for me.. my dreams arent like that at all.. they are generally stupid stuff that is hapening.. normally I dont look at my body and dont feel it-- I know its there but dont feel it, like its just situations that I am in with no particular reason..

This sounds like a great technique. The funny part for me is that my biggest habits are never drawn over to my dreamworld. So I could never relate to them If Im in an Normal Dream my habits from the waking world are always non-exsistant. But I love the idea SOBB. Funny You Twirl your hair...haha

Hey! Come on guys... I don't mean to twirl my hair (I know it's a girly habit!) I just do... Hmm.....
I have yet another idea (well, it's already talked about, but I'm gonna make another techinque)! Whenever you are about to do something, go somewhere, be expecting something to happen, as if you KNOW it's going to happen. For instance, in one of my dreams there was a never-ending car trunk (i know it's weird) and I knew if I went in something would hurt me. I KNEW.

Here is how this Technique (EERC or Expected Event Reality Check) would work:

When opening a drawer, getting in a car, climbing out of bed, looking out a window, opening up a package, etc. Think "I know when I open this drawer, get into this car, climb out of this bed, look out this window, open this packae etc. I will see (insert person or object to be expected). Get into the car, or whatever your doing, and REALLY expect to see the person there. If the person does appear, you will know IMMEDIATELY that you are dreaming. If the person does not appear, you will know IMMEDIATELY that you are not dreaming.

ONLY FLAW: If you suck at conjugating things this may not work. The way I see it though, is that this may also help your conjugation. All you have to remember is to REALLY focus!

Please post replies, and try it out!

      GOOD LUCK!

Not to be picky, but I think you mean "conjuring".

"Conjugating" is what you do to a verb.

hmmmm im not liking the idea of the EERC. In theory its a very very good form of RC. However, can you really keep thinking "when i open this....." everytime you do ANYTHING. Think about the amount of things you open, walk through etc during the day. To consciously be away of these things 24hours of the day is very hard hehe. But as I said, if mastered this is a very good form of RC.

Ok, i just re-read your description of EERC, I think that you DID imply that you only do the EERC everytime you do one thing, not everything, hehe. So, yes, that would be a better idea.

However, if anyone is willing to try out what I said - GO FOR IT!

Yes, don't think about it everytime to do it. Jus d random ones, but always as your about to do something. Try using the biggest activities. Like getting home, getting to school, and going into classes. Oh yeah, sorry for the conjugation thing (we were learning stuff in LA earlier... ) I did mean conjuring.

I hope this much eaiser technique helps you all.

P.S. I apologise for all past and future spelling mistakes or improper use of grammer...

      Well,
      GOOD LUCK!

      Great suggestion SOBB.

Since a habit can be anything that is a conditioned response that a person does without consciously thinking about it, learning to do reality checks whenever a person finds themself involved in a habit would tend to make a person more aware of what they are doing during the day, which is exactly what is needed to become lucid during ones dreams, being more aware of what one is doing at all times and questioning oneself whether what they are doing is reality or a dream.

In fact I just had to do a reality check as I found myself chewing on the end of my pen again.

I can see myself doing a record number of reality checks today using this method.

      Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for the reply! Chewing on pens (ends) is incredibly common. I do it, and so do alot of my friends. It's not a good habit, but it doesn't really matter. That habit is probably one of the greatest ones to use. After you do the HRC's for a hile your subconsiousness may start doing them automatically. Though this is just a thought, and would have to be tested.

      Well...
      Any comments?

      Great ideas SOBB,

i find reality testing is one of my biggest problems, so i am definately going to try HRC's today and throughout the week. I will post my progress incase you are curious.

p.s: i knew exactly what you meant (and i think everyone else did) when you used the word 'conjugating' instead of conjuring. So dont appologize, no one is perfect.. well exsept for maybe TygrHawk.

      Ummmm.... hardly.

Sorry if I ruffled any feathers. I try to ignore the vast majority of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors I see here -- I only pointed that one out because it was a completely different word with a completely different meaning, and I thought it might have been confusing for some people.

Don't worry TygrHawk. Your forgiven. Oh, it's good that you (enfilade) will be posting your progress. I would really like to know how it works out for you.

Thanks a lot, and keep up the posting! Oh, by the way I had a non-lucid dream last night about watching pokemon (I HATE pokemon) and something else that I can't remember.
