      do sleep disorders interfere??

well, i wont say i have a sleep disorder so to speak, but it takes me about an hour to two hours to fall asleep regardless of whether im energetic, muscularly and energetically depleated, whether its 9:30pm or 3am. this has been the case for about my whole life. anyway, does anyone else have an insanely hard time falling asleep, and if so, how do you work around it.

ive tried 61-dots, valerian root, breathing, EVERYTHING. anyone else have that problem?

its kinda hurtful when steve lebarge refers to falling asleep as if it isnt the most difficult task of my life :-(

It seems that you are suffering insomnia (and believe me, I went through that when I was younger, & still go through that if I don't WILD). Well, maybe the best thing to do is to just relax yourself in bed (why not try a WILD while you're at it?)...or maybe watch a bit of TV until you start getting sleepy!
      BTW, welcome to the forum!

I have the same problem. I just stay in bed and try to daydream while and hours or so passes by. I knwo it sucks. id rather just stay up and do somehitng more productive but sleep is nessisary. I love being asleep, just hate going to it becase it takes so long. Sometimes if i stay perfectly still, even when i feel like moving, my body gets this weird numbing sensation(I dont know what it is) and I tell myself that there are heavy bafgs of sand being placed on me that are making me very very heave. Then I tell myself that with each bag and the weight, I get more and more sleepy. This works sometimes ( try its not like theres anythnig ecle to do in bed wwhiel waitng to fall asleep) It doenst work all the time though. Often ill get very close and then ill feel like im falling and It will make me jump up and I have to start all over.

PS: Anyone know if I oculd use that for Lucid dreaming Induction. I have no Idea.

I have same problem, I can daydream for hours or so. You shouldn't think anything actively, just lay and try not to think anything, it's just very hard for me. Even when I have been awake for a long time, I was about 38 hours awake before last night and I still couldn't get sleep until after 1 hour of changing positions and thinking something...

I think the only ways are trying not to think anything so much and relaxing. And sleepingpills of course...

      sleep problems

      art vandelay,

I certainly know what you are talking about. And the longer you lie there the worse it gets.
While we are awake our mind is usually active and engaged. As we try to go to sleep, some of us cannot shut down our thinking machine. And without the distraction of external, waking life stimulie, your brain just can't let go of it's authority to your subconscious.
One reason meditaion works and breathing and such is all because of repitition. If your mind keeps thinking of thought after thought it feeds itself. So try to think about one thing. And when other thoughts do arise, as they will, just bring your attention back to your original thought.
You may also try some relaxing music. This helps some people escape there thought processes.
And as a last resort there are sleeping pills. I would suggest any medication as a last resort and that being prscibed because you have been diaognosed with a sleeping disorder.
