You gotta help me...im WILDLY unsucessful

ok, ill be honest, i havent had a full lucid dream. ive been trying WILD for about a week now, since it seems better for someone who has insomnia because you cant help but feel tired waking up at 4 or so. anyway, i lay there, im definitley tired, but absolutely nothing happens...im talking nothing. ive read everything by laberge, everything on these forums, everything on every technique so i know im doing it right...i guess. the one thing i dont do, is after i wake up after 4-5 hours, i dont stay up for a half hour, i pretty much go to the bathroom, and then i go back to bed. my overactive mind already keeps me from sleeping, so im afraid to stay up for too long because its likely thatll screw me outta sleep for the rest of the night.

if anyone has any suggestions, id appreciate it.

First of all, I empathize with your insomnia problem. That is something that I have had to deal with off and on for years. It certainly doesn't make lucid dreaming any easier.

I probably can't help you much with WILD, as I've never really been successful with that method. I've gotten as far as sleep paralysis, but have never been able to enter a lucid dream from that point. I probably just haven't worked at it enough to make it happen, but from what I've seen, most people seem to think that it is one of the more difficult methods to learn.

I have had very good success using the MILD and WBTB methods in combination. If you haven't already given this a go, you might want to try it. I can see you're already familiar with WBTB. The only thing you need to differently is that when you return to bed, repeat to yourself "The next thing I experience will be a dream", or "I will become lucid in my next dream".

Of course, if you've having trouble falling asleep at all, this is going to be difficult as well. I wish you luck, and let us know if you have any other questions.

if you have trouble getting back to sleep i wouldnt suggest the wild or wbtb methods. Another way is for your subconscious to do all the work for you. I had a short LD yesterday using this method (and i started it the day before) to sum it all up, you have to be REALLY aware during the day, doing random reality checks and doing reality checks when you catch yourself daydreaming or when you find something even the slightest bit out of the ordinary. you can take this a bit further by imagining what would happen if it was a dream and you did a RC, and then imagining what you would do in the dream dream. Then in a real dream, you will do a random reality check, and find that you are dreaming, while getting a full nights sleep and not even trying!

      are YOU dreaming?
