      WILD getting worse with practice!

      Hey everyone

I started WILD about a week ago because MILD really wasn't working for me, i found i got too distracted by other thoughts and stopped repeating the thing, so i decided to give WILD a shot because it sounded cool. So I read up on it and got into my bed (on my back) and started to do it. After a bit of picturing cars and riding a bike and what not my eyes started beating really rapidly and fluttering and some lights started up, I also heard a camp fire in my right ear but i was listening to it too hard or something and it stopped, as well as the eyes and the blobs of HI light. ive done it about 20 times since then, one before bed and twice after 6 hours sleep and taking a 30 minute break to stay awake and read on LD's. I have never been able to get as close as hearing HS as i did that day, and it takes me twice as long to get far at all.

the most i feel is loss of feeling in my arms, but my neck never goes numb, in fact when i swallow it moves a bit, and it usually gets crampy. I dont know what im doing wrong or what to do differently, i relax for about 20 minutes picturing the beaches and what not, but i have never seen a dream image fly by or heard a sound since that first time i did it. Im just wondering also, do you actually see images fly by your eyes as clear as day, or do you just imagine seeing them. During WILD i have thought of seeing something, but not actualy see it with my eyes (like ill know i just saw a bald guy for example, but only because my "mind" saw it, its hard to describe).

thanks alot, hope to hear a response. great forum by the way

Hi Sully, welcome to Dream Views!

I have a kind of similar experiences. The first time I tried WILD I got beautiful hypnagogic imagery. It was colourful light/plasma patterns. The second time I saw a bright light coming closer and closer to me untill it filled all my vision. I also remember hearing the sound and getting into a vivid dream in either of these. The dream being so vivid I couldn't believe it was a dream.

Anyway, after this I've succeeded in WILD some times but none of those later experiences was as intense as the first two. I haven't really experienced hypnagogic images after then and I really miss them
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

sorry! I didnt mean to post 2, and i didnt know how to delete the other one. I hit stop on accident after hitting the "send" or whatever to put it up on the forum, and thought it didtn post, so i refreshed and did it again. Then i saw 2. Thanks for the welcome.

I hope im getting close, because i really want to have lucids when i want rather than relying on chance and RC. I havent had quite as much HI as you did, i have had times where i see a flashing light like an LED or something, and swirling patterns, but still no dream images. Im going to keep trying, maybe its because i dont normally sleep on my back that i cant fall asleep? If i actually do try and fall asleep on my back i usually cant, so should i change my WILD position?

You are as close as you want to be....
And don't sweat the double posting...I just didn't want the mods to get mad at you!

I think that's pretty much what HI normally is. It' depends on the person really much though. The bad thing about HI is that if you concentrate too much on them, you will most likely just wake up. On the other hand, if you don't pay attention to them at all, you will most likely just fall asleep normally.

You sound so much like me. I can't really sleep on my back either. However, I've had my best WILD experiences when lying on my back. I think that position is better for me because it keeps my more alert and prevents from falling asleep so easy. If I lie on my side or front I usually just fall asleep. I would say that just keep trying on your back.

However, I might not be the right person to teach you WILD as I'm not good at those either. Still I hope this helps even a bit

Yeah that post helped. Im going to keep trying on my back. I just hate how my neck starts to bloody hurt after a while. I also started thinking that maybe the reasons i havent gotten vibrations is because I only try WILD for max of 30 mins before trying again (max was 50). Hopefully ill get some dream fragments by then !
