      beginner

Hey I am a super beginner. ive been keeping a dream journal this week and have been waking myself up 6 hours after i fall asleep and staying up for an hour reading about lucid dreaming. this has led to some interesting dreams but none of them have been lucid. ive been reality testing myself constantly throughout the day, but its all just so frustrating. i dont feel like im getting anywhere and im open to any suggestions from anyone successful in lucid dreaming.

Hey...It may take you a while before you have a lucid Dream..you could have one..this week..next week, or in a month..it all depends on how well you keep things...what i mean is like..Keep doing your Dream Journal...and Reality Checks, and once you get enough dreams in your Dream Journal go back and pinpoint where you should have known you were dreaming example: a pig that flies "Hey IM DREAMING!"

This will make you aware of strange things that happen in your dream and you will have a better chance of becoming Lucid...Make sure you get enough sleep..wakin up to an alarm is good too--that is called the WBTB--Wake Back To Bed method...

Write down some goals you would like to acomplish when you have your Lucid Dream..and after you get some more Dream's in your Dream Journal..write down some occuring things...like if you see your best friend in yoru dream alot...he or she could be a dream sign...write those type of things down. cuz if you see that certain thing in a dream again...it could trigger u to be like "HEY Im Dreaming!"

Dont be frustrated, it takes time..i was in your place once but i have gotten better over 5 months...trust me do not give up, it takes practice and you have only been doing it a week right??

If you have only been doing a week...keep doing it..you will have your break...just take notice of things in Real life that no one really does..like look at the top of trees and be like "Am I dreaming" or like look at the texture of a couch really closely and everything..

this should help you get some things going...others will be happy to help you on your journey

      Thanks

thanks for your help, and yeah ive only been trying for about a week. however a couple years ago when i first learned about LDing i started RCing by looking at my hand and telling myself i was dreaming, and one night i had a lucid dream, but it was so long ago and so short that theres almost no way it can help me now.

i was in my school library and a bunch of weird things were happening, and i was like, "if that just happened that means this must be true" and blah blah eventually i just shouted out "and so i must be dreaming!"

so i ran outside the school got a running start and tried to fly, i jumped about 30 feet but i couldnt get high off the ground, it was knida like how the princess jumped in mario 2 for NES, i kinda just hovered above the ground for a couple seconds, then i woke up. pretty lame, and it was at least 2 years ago, as for right now, im recalling 1 to 2 dreams a night, last night i listened to some tape that is supposed to help you get your body asleep while your mind stays awake, i woke myself up at 5 a.m. and listened to it again, both times i dreamed but didnt experience any lucidity.

so yeah im a little frustrated but i cant see myself giving up. any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. also, whats the deal with people being adopted in their sigs and stuff, did i miss something?

Being adopted...well i was ADOPTED by AQUANINA,

adopted here means, like someone who is experience with Lucid Dreaming or is really good at giving points and helping out, and knows what they are doing...can adopt a newbie, like you...if you ended up gettting adopted by AQUANINA-----NINA for short-----she would be like your Guide....she would help you out, give you tips on what is best to induce Lucid Dreams, you know just basically help you through your journey into Lucid Dreaming until you come good enough and know enough about it where you can be on your own...or what we call it here...RAISED....

now i was adopted by NINA, but i just recently got RAISED...i am going to adopt one of my lady friends here in about 2 weeks...cuz she is really really new to this and it will take some time for me to get her Q'd in..

So ask around, if you would like to be adopted post something and im sure someone would be glad to help u

      thanks

      Hey there...welcome to the forum.

Yeah basically the adoption system is put in place so that the more experienced lucid dreamers and members can help out the newbies to the site. After you have been here for 2 weeks you can PM a member that you would like to be adopted by if you want to participate in the program.

Definitely keeping a dream journal will help to increase your recall and make it easier for you to become lucid. I suggest spending some time just looking through all the different areas of the site and reading and taking in everything that Dream Views has to offer.

PM me anytime if you need help with anything.

EDIT: also, try setting your alarm for 5 hours after you go to sleep instead of 6...and try to stay up for 30-60 minutes (you may have to find what works best for you) and when you go back to sleep don't just go back to bed...try to WILD...or wake induced lucid dream. There is info about that in the tutorials section. Good luck!
