Lucid dreaming while dreaming... :/ Confused.

I had a dream this morning, and I knew I was dreaming. But my 'dream' eyes were closed, and I was afraid to open them because I could still feel my body on the bed and I didn't want to open my 'real' eyes by mistake.
But I tried anyway, just opened my eyes a sliver, and I saw a yellow pillow. I assumed that I had just opened my 'real' eyes by accident, so I immediately closed them again. And I sort of lost lucidity after that.

The problem is, I don't have a yellow pillow on my bed. So it was all a trick! X( I was lucid dreaming while I was sleeping in my dream. Which is weird. But the question is, how am I supposed to avoid this in the future? Should I just go ahead and open my eyes next time? I am dying to become fully lucid, and it annoys me when my mind tricks me like this.

I would say just open your eyes and hope for the best, you have nothing to lose. I have lost a few chances thinking I have not succeded because it was dark, but once opened my eyes a little and I was flying through space and saw a beautiful galaxy.

If that happens again, I guess I'll just do what you said and hope for the best. I suppose there's nothing to lose anyway!

      Thanks guys!

I agree with the others said. If you think you will concentrate too much on waking up in this state, you will likely wake up. So instead in this state try to imagine a dreamscape you want to go to. This will get your mind off waking up Good luck!
