I think you can practice stabilization. When you stabilize your dream, you're sort of grounding/anchoring yourself into it, and when that happens, you are more aware of your dream environment. This boosts your lucidity. You can also practice dream control, so you can decide for yourself what you want to do in the dream, make things and people disappear, summon them at your will, etc.
I think that your subconscious will always throw out random stuff in your dreams, so hopefully with practice you can manage to not let them bother you so much, and even turn them into something you want.
