Every time i know its a lucid dream :(

ill introduce myself ... i knew about lucid dreaming a year ago but i started to
read about it a month ago ... i started reading Stephen LaBerge book and on the fourth day i had a lucid dream because i did my fav reality check which is counting my fingers ... i woke up and went to the toilet then i went back to sleep
with a strong intention to have a lucid dream ... it was about 5 to 10 seconds long the the dream faded and i found myself in the void for about 10 seconds and i eventually woke up.

since then i read alot about lucidity in this forum ... my problem is everytime i say this is a dream and before i do a reality check the dream fades to white extremely fast and i dont attain lucidity ( i know when its lucid because i did it before )... this happened to me 4-5 times ... please help me

Just keep following the guides and take it easy, you've barely been doing it for a month and you've had a lucid dream, it takes some people over 3 months to get their first. You will get their if you just keep going with a determined attitude.

You can't stay focused or you are becoming too excited or too anxious, it happens to almost every beginner. If you want to learn how to become more aware and focused in dreams you could try meditation but you still need patience, you could also try saying a mantra before sleep like "I will stay in my dream when I turn lucid".

I agree, just try to calm down and stay focused. Once you get the dream to last longer then a few seconds, you need to stabilize the dream. Here is a stabilization tutorial.

This is a common problem for people just starting out, so don't give up! Best of luck, zaidoon

I was experiencing very short lucids at one point of time in my life, probably as short as yours. The moment I realised I am in a dream, it lasted for mere seconds and it faded away before I could do anything. I think it was because I was scared once in my lucid dream so I became slightly afraid of it, which explains the short lucid. I let my lucid come naturally to me afterwards without forcing them, the most a few mantras occasionally.

I did something interesting a couple of nights ago in my lucid, when my lucid was threatening to end and the place was becoming barren, I held a thought in my mind about the goal I wanted to attain in my lucid and I was very determined to complete that goal to challenge myself. When I turned away to focus on my goal and turned back again to look at the previously barren land, there were a couple of DCs around and I was able to proceed with my lucid dream.
