Did I get close to LDing?

I went to bed at midnight and relaxed by body till around 12:15, I then got into my favorite position (right side) and I felt so good, I shut my eyes, and started with every intake say "lu" and outtake say "cid". It was like around 1am when I get extremely tired, by mouth was dry and I felt my body like it was sinking into my bed, like i was going to go through it because i weighed a large amount. I also felt like my mind was starting to drift of and I knew I couldn't stop it. I didn't see flashing lights or anything in my eyes, so I thought I was doing something wrong and I pulled back from the sinking, and took a walk around my house. I then got into bed fell asleep instantly and woke up somewhere around 4am where my head was so messed up. I kept thinking incomplete thoughts and couldn't get to sleep. It was like I was dreaming, but I was awake, nothing made sense in my head. It is now 10am and I haven't gotten shut eye since. Was I close?

Should I take a few hydroxy tryptophans?

edit: I think the incomplete thoughts might be coming from the 3 books i've started yesterday. Yeah so I won't worry about that anymore. But the slipping, is that normal?

you weren't close to LD'ing persay, but you were close to going to sleep. YOu know that slipping feeling that felt like you were going through your bed. That was the sleep paralysis setting in. It's neccessary in order for one to go to sleep. If you kept going you would've probably entered a dream. I say probably because you didn't see any hypnogagic imagery. HI is important in order to enter the dream(but from my understanding not required)

It sounds like you were trying a WILD and i see that you were trying to do it at night. I HIGHLY suggest you NOT do that anymore. Why? Because when you dream you go through periods called REM(rapid eye movement) periods. This is when you dream. For the first 5-6 hours of sleep you hardly get any REM. But once you get to 7+ hours, you get incredibly longer REM periods, thus longer dreams(and most likely more clearer).

If you continued to what you were doing(and didn't let your mind wander), you would've entered a short, vague dream. So that's why most people sleep for the first 5-6 hours and wake up. Then they attempt a WILD and enter the more promising REM dreams.

kinda hope that made sense. If you need any help or advice, PM me and i'll do my best to help you out

Read up a little more on how to have a LD. Very very rarely can you have one immediately after going to bed. Usually that only happens during a daytime nap. After 5-6 hours of sleeping then give it a try. The next time you fall asleep after that point you will probably immediately enter the REM cycle. Try entering a LD then.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.
