hey everybody.

i'm brand new to the forum and also very interested in lucid dreaming. the few times it's happened to me have been fascinating and i want it to happen more often. so far it happens completely at random and seems to be triggered by something really out of the ordinary in a dream which causes me to question weather i'm dreaming. i'm worried, however, that my sleep cycle might prevent me from having lucid dreams. i haven't had one in a long time and i'm a very deep sleeper. i rarely remember my dreams anymore unless i have a nightmare. is it true that remembering your dreams is the first step in order to lucid dream?

i currently have aa day job in an office, nothing tiring. but later when it get's to be about 10:30 pm i get so tired i can't even keep my eyes open when im sitting at my computer.
i then lay down on my bed and i'm out in less than a minute. i sleep so deep that the worst thunderstorms don't wake me. is this good or bad (for lucid dreaming)?. my psychology professor said when you are in a really deep sleep you can't have REM. you can't dream without REM, correct?

basically, i want to know if i will have much luck lucid dreaming when i sleep so deeply.
