That's a very creative method! I'll have to try it tonight, I think I can handle that one. (WILDs are frustrating...) |

I had about 20 lucid dreams recorded in my old journal so I looked through to see if there was any particular type of dream that was more likely to become lucid . I saw a clear pattern which other dreamers may have too .I have mostly 'movie' type dreams with lots of action and excitement and these (apart from 1) never become lucid however bizarre ,because there is so much going on I am too caught up in chasing aliens fighting zombies and whatever to see any dream signs .I am just carried along by the action . (As in any good movie , my disbelief is suspended) . The dream-type that does become lucid are the ones where nothing much happens . I just seem to be in a darkened room either just woke up or lying in bed . Then I find the light won't work or the room is not quite right and try to understand what is going on . It seems to be this opportunity to reflect and rationalise is what triggers lucidity .The problem then is that unlike the 'movie' dreams I am stuck in a dark room with not much going on.and as lucidity doesnt = control I have to work hard to get outside and do anything interesting . |

Sounds excellent and very logical! I wish I could find my old DJ. I started over new just recently. |

thanks for the replies , I have tried this for a couple of nights , had some limited success last night . I managed to implant the 'light switch -testing' and 'man on the stairs' scenarios in my pre-sleeping state and they duly appeared in the dream . Unfortunately I did not question the reality of the dark stranger , he would not respond and I forced my way past him . In the bedroom I tried to switch the lights on and off a few times . I couldnt believe it when I woke up , they actually worked perfeclty , this is so frustrating , lights are NOT supposed to work properly in dreams , I could even see my undistorted reflection in the mirror and that should have looked wrong and given me a dream sign . I will keep trying of course , I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know how they get on . Thanks |

Very often, I have been able to turn light on and off in a dream, but if you look again, you might find that the light level in the room does not change, or changes very little. It's like you can see the light turning on, but it doesn't give off any light. That used to creep me out. |

I noticed that I am now dreaming that I am awake and recording my dreams . So obviously the fact that I am physically recording a dream each time I wake up in the night means that my journal has started to be incorporated into my dream imagery . So I am going to try an experiment . I have made a tick chart questionnaire with all my reality checks on it and will go through it each time I wake in the night .So that (hopefully)it will soon appear in my dreams . The idea is that when I start to do my reality check tick chart in my dreams hopefully this should lead to lucidity as I answer the questions and realise that I am dreaming .I think the process of physically filling in the chart with ticks and crosses will more likely become dream activity than just mentally going through the reality checks . |
