      When is my REM?

      Hi,

      I had my first LD last night . I'm trying to work out when my REM started - any advice would be most welcome.

      I awoke from the LD at 2.39am. The LD was, I think, the forth dream during this period. I want to set my alarm for this same window tonight. What do you think, say, 2.15am?

      Thanks in advance,

      Jogo

      Congratulations, jogo!

      REM periods (the periods when you have vivid dreams) are pretty individual, but they happen approximately every 90 minutes after you fall asleep;
      this chart will give you an idea of when they occur.

      Just to add some extra information to Laurelindo's excellent advice:

      Remember that trying to guess your REM stages is very hard without a regular sleep schedule. There are many factors that account for individual variation on sleep cycle, so when trying to WBTB small differences (even as small as 15 minutes), can have a huge influence on your results. Experimentation is the key here, good luck
