      First LD

Hey guys, I had my first LD last night. (very cool) I cant remeber the specific name of the technique but ill try to explain.

First you just let your thoughts arrive and go, maybe placing them in clouds as they drift away, then as you begin to fall asleep and have your individual thoughts turn into miniture movies, you try to find the right level of awareness( not to much or you will wake up and not too litte of you will fall asleep, somewhere in between) After you have observed your semi-dream for awhile and you feel that it is secure you can begin to become lucid and explore.

This is what I did and after playing with my arms, I realized I couldnt really see anything and felt that my eyes were closed. I decided to open them and when I did I had a FA into another dream.

Though I wish it would have been longer it was still a good experience.

I think your account of achieving LD is very clear and will be useful to me and others . I like the idea of clearing thoughts by letting them float off on clouds . When you say you are able to find the right level of awareness while slipping into a dream state , I would appreciate any advice on how you do this . I would definitely like to try this technique as I seem unable to directly go to an LD . but have to go through a period of dreamless sleep first even though I experience what you describe as 'semi-dream' as I drift off . How do you hold on to a particular level of conscious awareness as you enter the dream state ?

As far as how I achived that certain level of awarness is hard to explain. But ill try.

First I woke up sometime in the early mourning and stayed awake for about 30 min lying in my bed. Then when trying to go to sleep I recongnized i was in that kinda semi dream senario and kinda woke myself back into full conciousness. I imediately afterwards began thinking of previous semi dream, and though the new semi dream was not exactly alike it was very similar.

When falling into this dream state you have to just let your thoughts go and let the scene in your head take its own path.

The state of awarness that you must achive is very difficult and I will probably will need alot more practice to master it. I have decided that every time I wake up in the night I will try this technique. I suggest that anyone who wants to try this, just be aware of your thoughts while your falling asleep and try not to intervene with them.

I think this would work best with WBTB method.

I like your ideas, seems very reasonable and logical approach, by letting your thoughts drift off into the clouds, although cloudy thoughts does give one a sense of being in a dream, but you have to be aware fully of what you are doing, or otherwise you'll have a cloudy and foggy dream

i know the state he refers to. basically, i personally just lie there without moving an inch for 30 minutes or more, like he said (let your jaw open up a bit while keeping your mouth closed. make sure your not just not moving, but 100% disconnected from your muscles. if you find yourself having to keep "letting go" of a muscle group, readjust your self so you can fully relax. i find some arm placements wont let me really relax them even if i am trying to). suddonly it feels like your not sure if you just woke up from a dream or not. you have no real sense of time or how longs its been either. from this state, let your mind sort of fall asleep while you focus on knowing your dreaming. all of a suddon you may find yourself in a dream, or back in bed from a dream.
