      Orthodontia and Lucid Dreaming

Many people wear things having to do with orthodontia at nighttime. Mostly teens, but others as well. Do you think that the discomfort of having rubber bands or headgear can effect your ability to have dreams or lucid dreams? Also, if you use a method where you never lose conciousness while obtaining a lucid dream, or one where your dream starts out in your bedroom, would your headgear/braces etc. suddenly dissapear once you've entered the dream?

I think it depends. Some people don't really bother with what they wear in dreams and don't pay attention; among those who do, some probably wear headgear in dreams and some don't. For instance, I normally wear glasses, but I have perfect sight in dreams even though I don't feel the glasses.
The same applies to WILD, I believe. If you fall asleep while paying attention to your headgear, it will probably remain in a dream; if you don't, it probably won't until you question yourself why.

I had braces for three years, headger for 2, rubberbands, retainers for another 3, the works. Frankly, I remembered very little during that time. Now that everything is off (and I have dazzling teeth) I find that I often have my retainers still in when I am dreaming. I have tried to make this a dreamsign but to no avail. For me, it is like the orthodontia goes back into my past. Since I had so many nights with it in, it reappears in the nighttime.

It might work oppositely if you have it in now. If you suddenly realize that you don't have any metal in your mouth, it would be a good sign that you are dreaming.
