      Constant training...filling up free time.

I've been fighting with my own laziness and what not for a while now and I've finally stopped failing at keeping a constant frame of mind devoted to realizing the dream state (even this very moment, heh).

The problem is that I have a lot of free time on my hands and I need something to actively do during this time devoted to LD training.

When I'm going about things that I have to do in everyday life to survive, then I merely keep this constant frame of mind to dream resolution but what can I do when I have nothing else to do?

I will not play video games, I will not just listen to music or watch movies. All that distracts me from my goal. I need something active to do in relation to LD training.

Now, meditation may be one idea but it's just too...passive. I'm practicing it somewhat already but I don't think meditating all day is a good idea and I really have loads of free time on my hands, often whole days, thus, I can't meditate the entire day.

Any ideas on active activities for LD training? I'm really lost for ideas here, heh.

I dont think you necessarily have to avoid things such as movies. Instead you could watch movies that promote what youre trying to achieve (matrix, what dreams may come ect). This past week I found that while playing videogames I see my dreamsigns more often in them then other places, this could be because theyre designed to be a fantasy world to immerse yourself in or just because a lot of my dreams involve a lot of action and shooting. I dont really see a reason for doing nothing in your waking state, I want to LD for different experiences (and so I dont lose all that time to sleep), but if I were to give up my waking activities and goals I would be losing so much more. Just my thoughts

fair enough i suppose though, lucid dreaming would be incredible, just dont try and escape reality with dreaming
]just wondering, how young are you ?

Heh, I'm not escaping life, I'm merely attaining a way of finally leaving it.
There's much behind this but I won't explain for many reasons.
My age doesn't matter simply because I don't care about this life any more.

Lucid dreaming is my one and only goal. I'm not searching to attain it in order to just have fun and not even to achieve any of the so called "beyond" experiences discussed here and in other places. My goal is far different.

Though, at any rate, I need to fill up my free time with some active action in relation to lucidity and not to offend anyone, I'm not looking for advice as to whether I should do it or not. I know that I want to do so, I need to and thus I'm asking for any ideas. I don't take the above offensively simply because I've stopped taking offense to anything a while ago.

If anyone has any ideas (besides meditation as already said) I'll be thankful if you'd share. I just can't think of anything and as much as I've read on lucidity and different other aspects in relation to this topic I have still yet to find such an activity, one that will relate to lucidity and help me do something actively, not just mentally keeping a certain state of mind.

As I said dont bail on those other activities as they will help with your awareness and keep you watching for dreamsigns. being aware doesnt = being bored

Mental activity of all sorts, especially that which increases your reasoning skills, is always helpful. Everything from crossword puzzles to reading to, yes, movies (if they're not the mindless sort) can help. Anything thought-provoking. If you're in school, take an extra class in math, philosophy, psychology, history... anything that makes you think.

The better you are at thinking, the better you will be at dreaming.

This could probably help out your awareness a bit. In my spare time i like to do anything that will make my mind better than it is. For example, I was sitting outside last night, just listening to the rain, when i realized its pretty to hard to listen to 3 different areas of rain fall at the same time, i closed my eyes and stop using all my sences except my hearing and focused and before i knew it I was on to 4 at the same time, Yeeha! when I went back inside, I felt so focused and in the zone kinda. playing GTA on the PS2 was about totally realistic. it was a crazy experiance. Ive also been having alot of HI's and dreams in 3rd person JUST like in the game.
but anywho, Its those little things that make the difference.
      Im new here. Peace

Hmm, I see the reasoning behind the above but if I do something to provoke thinking that's not related to lucid dreaming then it'll just pull me away from thinking about lucidity and achieving my goal. I've already gone through so many activities that I'm nearly lost, nearly everything makes me fail at my training, I just slip back away into everyday life with some new goals...and only later yet again realize that they mean nothing to me.

It's impossible to fully ignore everyday life unless I was in some shaolin temple or the such, where my everyday life would consist of my goal in general.
That's exactly why I'm looking for an activity to participate in that would make me think of LDing and would also somehow train my mind towards LDing.

I've been thinking a lot about what such an activity could be but I'm just not getting any ideas -.-

Hmmm, just got the idea that reading more on lucid dreaming is a great thing to do but what should I read? There're tons of materials. I read this forum a lot but I obviously can't read it too much and doubt I want it to be the only thing I read about LDs. Maybe someone has any books on lucidity they could recommend?

Well I came up with a possible solution for you. Have you tried writing? Write stories about dreams you would like to have (keep writing the ones you have had in your journal). Heck make a full fledged novel, this seems to be a reasonable solution to what you seek. The devotion and thought towards it would keep you on the topic of dreams while maintaining an active and aware mind. Who knows maybe something more could come from it.

What an utterly obvious and useful idea. To the point, simple, easily acheived . . . you slay me. I'm amazed that it never occured to me. Thanks for the idea. I'm sure that Merlock will not be the only one to use it.

      Hah, great idea indeed.
Well then, seems I have a number of activities that I can fill my free time up with.
Reading on lucidity, writing about lucidity and dreams, meditation (now with Holosync ) and training the constant frame of awareness.
