      would this work

if i reality checked every hour, went to bed and said "tonight i will remember my dreams" and was very sure i'd have one every night, what doyou think my chances are of going lucid?

I tried that and I'm doing RCs at least every hour or more. Telling myself to remember and recognize my dreams and to go lucid everytime before bed, for 1 week now, didn't work so far.
However for some people this seems to be enough... you just have to try and see for yourself

As has been said many times before, habits take time and effort to form.
For some a week really is enough, for others habits take months to achieve.
However, habitual behavior is, in my opinion, the most powerful technique for achieving lucidity simply because if the habit is often enough (all the way up to a constant frame of mind devoted to resolving the dream state) then upon the habit actually embedding itself in one's mind, lucid dreams, I would say, may occur nearly every sleep period.
