I attained lucidity but only for a moment.

In real life, I was sleeping on the floor at my friend's apartment. We had all been drinking and smoking, so I was pretty out of it. Another friend and I were sharing a sheet but he kept stealing it, the fan was on high, and I was freezing.

Then suddenly I slipped out of consciousness and into a state of dreaming, and I dreamed that I was standing back in my dorm, in my suitemate's room. I was very aware of the fact that I was dreaming and I kept trying to will myself to walk through the bathroom to my own room, so I could sleep in my own bed. I told myself that if I could just make myself walk to my room, I would be so comfortable and snuggly and warm. But I couldn’t do it, I was just standing there, and so I woke up.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prolong lucidity? I am very excited about this new development in my dream life! Thanks!

First, try not smoking and drinking. That usually slows the whole process. Just stay in tune with your dreams and eventually it will pay off. No simple solution. Thier is plenty of different ways to go about it. In the tutorial section and all over this site. Of course, if you want a quick tip, for when you're dream is slipping away...if youre worried about waking up, spin around really fast and you can teleport quite easily. But other than that, just keep at it.
