      Always nearly realise I'm dreaming...

      ..and then carry on regardless.

      I noticed that in a lot of my dreams there is a point where I actually realise something isn't right. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it, it's just that I realise something is strange about whatever the given situation is.

      For example, the past two nights have been;

      "Why the hell am I getting on a train to Cardiff with my parents? I'm supposed to be going to Birmingham, and my parents shouldn't be here!" (I am really going to Birmingham tomorrow).

      "Why the hell am I boiling these sausages?"

      Are these the points I should be picking up on it and becoming lucid?

      I also noticed it's been happening more since I joined here, which is probably a good sign.

      Such thoughts are typical for regular dreams but the usual reaction to them is rationalization.

      Quoted from LaBerge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming":

      When bizarre dream events occur, we somehow assimilate
      them into what we consider possible. If we happen to
      notice or experience them as unusual, we are usually able to rationalize them.[/b]
      That is apparently why many require certain training and practice in this field to avoid rationalizations and bring one's degree of reasoning to a needed level.

      Yes. IMO some part of you is trying to wake yourself up in the dream. I think you're quite close.

      I try to do RC's everytime I see something weird.

      Like a few days ago, I saw a man walking with a sheep, in the middle of the city. lolwtf. RC ^__^ maybe I will do it in dreams to when I am thinking: 'lolwtf'... If I don't think eating pancakes while juggeling skunks in normal for 90-year-old lion-tamers.

      Note that if you're doing reality checks in waking life as practice, remember to give yourself solid proof that you are awake. Don't mindlessly do reality checks. If so, you might find them failing in dreams and you won't reach lucidity.

      Focus on the moment, do a reality check, consider the result, then resume your day (or dream).

      Neruo, what's "lolwtf"?

      lmao. I guess I am to used to 'normal' (read: geekish) forums.

      lol= Laughing Out Loud.
      WTF = What The F---
      LMAO= Laughing My Ass Off
      ROFL=Rolling On Floor Laughing.

      'lolwtf' is an excamation meaning the user of the term is both surprised and amused. You could say.

      And about the things about RC's, you are totally right, Don't do RC's mindlessly.

      I haven't done a reality check in a dream yet, so it's kind of hard for me to say "okay I'll try that".

      We'll just have to wait untill my dream self gets a little quicker on the uptake! or decides to do a reality check.

      It should happen eventually. I'm definatley becoming a bit more suspicious of certain situations while I'm dreaming. The one of Strong Bad dressed as a woman last night nearly did this to me again, so I'm very optimistic.

      I try to do the same thing. For example, the other day, I saw an office chair that I would expect to have a back, but it didn't. Reality Check!

      Nope. Reality.
      Reality Check. Now.

      Problem is that in dreams most things look normal.. ah well...

      I allso catch myself thinging: 'Oh crap I havn't done a RC in some time, lets do one'... I think if I don't do it automatically, I might never remeber it in a dream...

      Ah well, when practicing WILD I guess it doesn't matter as much. I am trying that now.
