      MP3究 and Ipods for Lucidity.

I have studied alot of different systems and methods to get lucid in my life and nothing has worked better for me than normal dream yoga which is just repeating a mantra over and over again while doing random actions throughout the day.

For example, no matter what I am doing, I would just keep saying the mantra "The next time I am dreaming, I will remember to recognize that I am dreaming". Whenever I would actually discipline myself to do this mantra throughout the day, it would be still going in my mind when I went to bed and I would get lucid. The problem was that it was not very practical to keep saying the mantra over and over again, especially if a person talks to you. You have to stop. Or if you get a phone call, you have to stop. Etc.

The system worked great, but it was seldom that I could keep the mantra going all day in order to achieve lucidity. I would always get distracted and forget to go back to saying the mantra. However, no other system compared to the lucidity I achieved when I was able to stick to the mantra.

Recently, I started using MP3 players alot because they were so compact. I liked being able to take music with me wherever I went. So I finally got the bright idea to record myself saying the dream mantra into my Ipod. Rather than having to remember to say the mantra over and over, all I had to do was to listen to the mantra day and night. It worked great because nobody thought it was strange that I was always listening to an Ipod. (But you can have real problems with bosses and parents etc. if they just see your lips moving all the time but nobody else is in the room....that was another reason the mantra system was hard to stick to...some people urged me to get professional help)

Anyway, I would listen to the dream mantra all day long and then I would keep listening to it at night as well.

For listening to the mantras at night, I bought wireless headphones which are very comfortable and allowed me to continue hearing the mantra as I fell asleep.

This method gets me lucid almost every single night and it really requires very little effort. You do not have to remember anything except to listen to your mp3 player.

      MP3's and Ipods

Thanx for sharing, LosTres! The ipod idea sounds great, and I'll check it out. Your post made me laugh, because I used to work for a conservative investment bank, and would on occasion do reality checks and the mantra thing. A couple of my co-workers thought i was having some kind of seizure, so I scrapped the idea of bringing my dream yoga practice into the workplace. Also, I've got a couple of friends who expressed "concern" about my engaging in lucid dreaming. Guess they wanted to ship me off to a Normalcy Camp!

      Ah yes, those.

That thread is actually where I first learned about lucid dreaming. I've been trying those mp3s every once in a while, but haven't had any significant results.
      Reality Check. Now.
