      Cant remember to do RC

Hey im new here but ive been trying to become lucid for just under a month. I never remember to do a RC in my sleep, When im sleeping everything seems normal and i dont do a RC, the idea never crosses my mind.

I have a auido file that says " You are dreaming " every 20 minutes i lisin to it when im on the comp witch is about 3 hours a night and when i hear it i do a RC. And i have that playing at night but i never do the RC when im alseep no matter how weird the dream is.
I cant seem to do the WILD or MILD.

Any ideas to help me become lucid?
My main problem is relising that im dreaming.

Hi neil2006 WELCOME TO DREAM VIEWS FORUM

The real thing with reality checks is to do them a number of times during the day. Prove to yourself, beyond a doubt that you are not dreaming. As you fall into the habit of doing these often, this will hopefully carry over into your dream state of mind. Same ~ mind really. But with the repetition it will increase your odds of you becoming aware to do so in your dream.
Also. As you do them a number of times throughout the day in is common for it to become redundant and as result many people tend to not do the RC with conviction. Don't let that happen. Keep it real!

Welcome to DV. Eh, I don't think you need the tapes. Some say they help, BTU I think its better just to do without them... Just really mean ti when you do a RC in real life.

      Hey dude, welcome!
I've been having the same problem. Dream recall = awesome. Lucidity = not so good.
I think the trick really is in the RC's. You have to be able to imagine for those few seconds in which you perfrom the RC, that everything around you is actually a dream, and prove it to yourself that it really isn't.

It's a dream unless you prove otherwise. My RC's have been getting better I feel, because once you can simulate that dream feeling, then you can place yourself in that state when you are awake, and go from there.

Dunno if that helps, but just have patience is all I can say.

Where abouts in NZ are ya? I'm at top of the South Island in Nelson.
There are more Kiwi's here everyday! But we still need more! MORE! Mwahahahaha!

      Good luck.

a reality check isnt grabbing your nose in the hopes that you'll be dreaming, a reality check is something that you do when something (anything whatsoever) seems the least bit wrong. it doesnt have to be huge, just something like "that glass wasnt there yesterday" or something like that, then you begin to do the systematic proccess that is a reality check:

1- think to yourself "my God could this reality that i have been living in for these past few hours have actually not existet in any place but my mind?

2- after thinking about that seriously for a few seconds begin to look around looking at minute details such as a scratch on your shoe, did you make that scratch? how did that scratch happen? could someone else have made it? was it my mind that did this? take a good 10-15 seconds to do this being totally serious in questioning the nature of all the things around you, and all things that have passed in your day, the order in which they happened and how you got to each place (wont take as long as it looks)

3- now you've made some real doubts in your mind, your going to be itching for a reality check, if you've done what iv said then theres no way this reality check will be mindless, you had better do more than one too, plug your nose and try to breathe, did that work? yes? then look at the back of your hand looking for anything suspicious, nothing? look at a clock etc... if you make a habit of doing this when you see anything wrong whatsoever (or your situation just "feels" wrong) then with good recall theres no way that you wont have a good luciod dream soon enough

(be sure to honestly do all these thing, dont breeze through them or else the entire process was pointless)

Write "AYD" (are you dreaming) on your hand, and everytime you see it, seriously consider wether you're dreaming or not
