      WILD Technique

I managed to have 12 WILD's this morning in a two hour period using this technique.

It is a very simple technique that works best after waking up from already having slept a number of hours.

The basis behind the technique is that after a number of hours of sleep the time between rem cycles seems to be much less, at least for me it is.

      The technique:
      1) Have a pad and a pencil in bed next to you to record your dreams on.
      2) Sleep for several hours first to get the time between rem cycles to shorten.
      3) Get up if you need to relieve yourself, then go back to bed
      3) Lay still keeping your mind blank, but expect for something to appear (I think that it is the expecting something to appear that causes this to work so well.
      4) When something appears, realize that you are in a WILD.
      5) Record your dream staying as still as possible, then close your eyes and wait for the next dream images to appear.

The dreams I have using this method are usually very short and to the point, but they are none the less dreams, and are quite vivid, even though they may only last 5 to 10 seconds.

When using this method I seem to momentarily lose consciousness for a brief second when the dream begins, but then become aware that I am dreaming after the dream begins. It feels a lot like a day dream, but the images and places I visit are completely random as they are being fed by my subconscious mind.

Hopefully this technique will be helpful for someone having problems with WILD.

Are you sure that you're talking about real dreams there and not just halluscinations, especially hypnagogic imagery... Doesn't sound like WILD to me at all. You're probably not even asleep, let alone in full-on REM. A good REM-period lasts 20-30 minutes without disturbances and it is followed by light dreamless sleep. This alone makes 12 dreams in 2 hours impossible. And even if it were dreams, who would want 5-10 second long dreams?

Yes I am sure that they are real dreams. I may have understated their time as they might last as long as a minute of two, but the point is, they are short dreams, and to the point. For example I found myself out jogging with my dog in one of the dreams, while a car coming toward us crowded us off the road. In another dream I was pulling into a gas station when a pickup truck crowded in front of me and took the gas pump I was going to use. So I used the pump behind him. And then the gas splashed out of my tank when I got filled up. In another dream, I was merely standing beside a duplex, admiring the lawn when I noticed some trees in the back yard. All very short dreams, yet all very vivid, and all coming from my subconscious mind. And in answer to "You're probably not even asleep". Of course I'm not asleep ! That's what makes it a WILD, in that I am awake when it occurs. And who would want a 5-10 second long dream ? While I'll agree that they are not as much fun as a really involved vivid dream that might last for 20 or 30 minutes, they are still a very good of communicating with your subconscious mind, which is why I shared it in the hopes that someone else might possibly benefit from it.

Well the method in itself seems pretty good and I agree with your points on the intensity and subconscious connection

The strong subconscious connection should make this good for people on a voyage of self discovery.
Recent Dream journal note : I was swallowed by some kind of sea-snake thing

      Thanks Korittke.

The one drawback to this method is having to have about 8 hours of sleep before it works, which makes it difficult for me to do more than a couple of days a week when I am off the next day. If I can ever get this to work on a daily basis, then I'll be happy with it.

Since expecting something to come into the mind while the mind is kept blank seems to be what makes this method work, maybe with a little more practice and by using some hypnotic suggetions in the background I can get it to work on a daily basis.
