      Aural Focusing technique?

I was reading on different techniques for lucid dreaming, and have been keeping a dream journal, and i stumbled upon the aural focusing technique. You guys probably know what it is, so i was wondering, how well does it work?
The site i saw it on (wikipedia) says it works well for casual/amateur LDing, so should i try this tonight or WILD?

      Aural Focusing technique

The aural focusing technique is not fully understood, but seems to work very well in amateur or casual lucid dreaming. This involves a very simple setup. One must stay awake until sleep is highly desirable, while watching a television, or listening to a radio (radio use seems to yield drastically lessened instances of successful lucid dreaming) and then lowering the volume to a point where the sound is just above the noise that is currently occupying the surroundings. The subject then lies down, and focuses all attention on the sound, while imagining climbing infinite stairs. Under this method, the user will sometimes find themselves in a room extensively similar to the room in which they fell asleep in, but upon leaving this room, something will be radically different. An interesting effect of this method is full auditory awareness, usually the subject will hear the television program that is on, but upon inspection of the television screen in the dream state, the subject will find mostly static images, and sometimes scrolling text, with mostly garbage characters, and one or two repeating words, which change when the television is left and returned to.[/b]

      Aural Focusing technique

Hmmm. I've never heard of this but it seems I had my first recorded lucid dream to this method. Basically I had the tv on really quiet and fell asleep listening to the murmer of the set. I then had a FA and realized I was dreaming (i didn't really have a method back then, I just knew about LD's) I noticed that the TV set was giving off intense bright colours I tried to stand up but found my limbs didnt work properly... then my first bout of sleep paralysis kicked in ha ha if only i knew what it was at the time I could have enjoyed it so much more.
I'll give this another try with the visualization and let you know how I get on.
      Are you dreaming or awake?

Interesting. I accomplished this once before and didn't even know that it was associated with a technique. Since I usually attempt my LD's when I sleep in on a weekend, I have to turn on a fan or air purifier for some continuous noise. I realized that it allows me to concentrate better without getting distracted by some of the noises around my house.

Sometimes, I'll still hear the fan in my LD. During one instance, I dreamt I got up out of my bed and looked out my window, but something didn't seem right. I did a quick reality check and upon discovering that I was in a dream state, I jumped out the window and started flying.

never heard of it under this name, but i recently just recorded two lucid dreams into my dream journal which were induced by a WBTB + concentration + music.

The music part was pretty cool, its the first time I can ever remember using it as a reality check and its amazing how the mind creates dreamscapes for it.
