Bridges of a Time Long Past

Its been strange recently. For some reason I feel compelled to keep searching my mind as to why I keep dreaming these things and why I used to dream them when I was a child.

In my quest to continue attaining lucidity, I've had a recent batch of non-lucid dreams which have been quite vivid. They hearken back to a time I can't remember, yet I know I can feel. I've had many different dreamscapes but none like these. I will describe them now:

They are very rural, sometimes small towns but I am a traveler in them. They don't necessarilly have to have a set story behind them, yet I feel a powerful nostalgia when I visit them.

The first I can remember has lakes, many many small lakes and the weather is always warm. I travel on boats in many of the dreams that contain them, but sometimes I'm near the shores. Bridges take a clear role in almost all of these dreamscapes I will describe and the one on the largest lake here is the strangest. I remember the last time I visited that bridge in a dream, I walked out onto it and it spanned the whole length of this lake. I remember thinking to myself that the bridge was still being built from both sides and now this time was almost complete. It spanned well over a mile, almost 2 and I walked out to the center where I discovered there is a gap, of maybe 50 feet and I say to myself "wow, this is amazing, i know this place" then I return to the house that is on the side I came from.

Another dreamscape that I feel is tied very close into this one, is of a mountainous region with much the same weather but it has trains. The train system here is an intricate one but the trains themselves are quite primitive (open cars). I've ridden them many times and watched the sunset over a mountain pass. I know I've been there before... just not in this life.

There are others, but the memories are strange, I cannot just recall them, they come all of a sudden when I am in deep meditation or the verge of dreaming. These dreams I can not adequatley describe in words, but they have had such a profound impact on me that I feel compelled to ask about this sort of thing. Has anyone else had such a deep spiritual connection with something you feel and know, but couldn't have possible experianced it in this life?

Often I can tie a dreamscape and the way a dream goes to things I've experianced recently and places I've been to. These dreams are different, I don't know how they come about but I know I didn't just come up with them, I've been through it before.

Its 1:50AM as I type this, its been over 2 days since I had one of these dreamscapes come into my mind, but I was laying on the couch and thinking to myself and they come back. I want to know the truth!! Why do I know of such things, and mind you this short post is only a tip of the iceberg here, within the past year or so I've sensed so much that I couldn't possibly know, I've predicted things, and sensed energies I've never felt before.

I don't really know where to turn to on this sort of thing, nor what to ask, nor even if others have experianced it. Its like.. I don't really care about the small things in life, and I'm very happy with how I am, but its like i'm on the verge of finding a higher state of awarness that not many have or understand and it sets me apart a little.
      Just keep moving…

I can feel what you mean, reincarnation discussion aside. For the past 6 years, in a time when I had moved to another town, I went from a very social adolescent to a very quiet, introspective one. I feel disconnection with the outside world and live very hermit like with my home and immediate family as a refuge. I dont want to say that I am a hooded stranger incapable of talking to another human being outside my zone of comfort, but that my experience in life leads me to adopt very few close friends and the desire for a soulmate. I strongly want to find my place in this world, like any young adult, and I spend my time reading on philosophy while simultaniously trying to understand a science to my thoughts which are strange, and disconcerting, often dark.. I want to know everything

As far as my dreams go, I've had many dreams from places I know I've never been or doign things I've never done... places, homes.... very familiar- nostolgic, yet nowhere I've ever gone to or lived. It could be simple association with a place you know in your life, coupled with a symbolic fabrication. But who is to say, it could just as well be a past life.

Have you tried getting to the other side of the bridge?

It hasn't happened to me for a few years, but a couple nights ago I had another encounter with a dreamscape that seemed like it was taken out of my actual waking life. It wasn't though, because the place doesn't exist...And yet, everything about it was consistent to the last time I was there. The conditions under which I were there were different, but the feeling of familiarity I have when I am there is like going back to a restaurant at which I am a regular. I think I have about two or three different places like this, all of which I find myself at randomly and seemingly for no reason. I wish I could become lucid when I'm there, or remember to try and go back when I actually am lucid. Dreams may hold more secrets than we think.
