that all depends on how much effort you put into it.
you DO dream, many times every night. you just don't remember it. start keeping a dream journal, and follow my advice for remembering them when you wake up. if you don't try, you won't remember shit.
i've gone for months "without dreaming" when i wasn't trying to remember them. within a week or two of starting a DJ, and spending a couple minutes trying to remember what i was just dreaming EVERY time i woke up, i was having dreams almost every night. a few weeks later, every night.
at first it might only be a really vague concept, or a person's face, that you remember.
my first three dream journal entries months ago were
1. sincerity
2. water.
3. false teeth.
that's all i could remember after lying still trying hard to remember, but i still wrote it down. i got better and better, and less than half a year later i've got a couple hundred dreams written down (some over three pages long), and have had 3 dozen lucids.
it takes work to learn lucid dreaming. nobody can give you a quick route to suddenly acheive results. YOU must put the work in. If you're not willing to work hard at it for a few weeks without seeing mind-blowing results, you're probably not cut out for lucid dreaming.
if you're really serious, look through the tutorials. most of the things you are asking are there. we are all more than happy to clarify anything you don't understand, but nobody can teach you lucid dreaming, dream recall, or anything else except you.
its like weightlifting. if you've never done it before, you can hardly lift anything. maybe only 2 lbs. but if you don't start with the basics, you will never be able to progress.
keeping a dream journal, and trying to do what i suggested in my original post is the 2 lb weight. start with that before you start worrying about lucid dreaming. LDing is the 100lb weight.
the quicker you master the basics, the quicker you'll be lucid dreaming. but to jump ahead of yourself won't get you anywhere but frustrated, and you'll just give up. that's like thinking you can just instantly start lifting 100lbs.
don't worry about how long it'll take you to start lucid dreaming, concentrate on working on remembering your dreams. and then we can take it from there.
trust me, i know it seems impossible, but if you put the work in, you'll start remembering dreams very soon.
lucid dreaming isn't just something you can learn in one weekend. it takes anywhere from weeks to months to learn. but trust me, its well worth the effort...if you're willing to put in the effort, concentrate on the basics.
hope i don't sound harsh, but i get the impression a part of you isn't willing to put in the work, and expects everyone else to do it for you. that isn't possible.
and i know its hard to work hard towards a goal you can't really imagine (you can't even really imagine a normal dream right now, let alone a lucid one), but i guarantee you'll be glad if you stay persistent.
just imagine if right now you looked around, and everything around you was a dream created by your mind. that you could run and jump out a window and fly over your neighborhood, or walk through walls, or anything else you can imagine.
lucid dreaming is one of the coolest, most exciting, worthwhile things you could ever learn in your life.it wouldn't make sense if it was really easy to learn.
hopefully you prove me wrong..i know you can but you have to choose.
