yup, that sounds like SP to me its pretty wierd at first, but neat (i think so anyways).
you're really close. good idea to try not to push the daydreams (or hypnagogic imagery (HI) as many here call those images). but another important thing is to try not to 'pull' the daydreams towards you/yourself into the dream.
tons of times when i was trying WILD i'd get really strong sleep paralysis, and start seeing images, but then i'd try to 'force it'. most experienced WILDers i've talked to agree with me that passive concentration is the main point.
my first successful WILD i just laid there watching images pass before my mind, which gradually formed fleeting scenes, which gradually formed a restauarant. the key thing (and the only thing i did differently than all the failed attempts) was that i didn't hold onto them, or push them away. i just let them be.
after enough time they formed a restaraunt quite realistically, and i noticed i was literally sitting on a stool in it. so i remained calm and said "this is as good a time as any to see what happens", and i just started walking around in the dream it was so cool. and the dozen or so i've had since have all been the same.
dont 'touch' the images at all. they will do everything. don't try to prematurely declare "this is probably a dream!!" and stir the water while a reflection is forming of your mind. wait until everything around you suggests "this IS a dream", and i'm IN it (not looking at it), and then calmly take it from there..
just my opinion, but it works everytime for myself.
good luck. it shouldn't be long now if you keep trying. probably this week i'd wager. happy dreaming
