Do you all think it would be possible for a few people on this forum to start a collective dreaming association? Sort of like, a super-massive RPG. |

Explain more... Like a game? Or just, meeting each other? Don't know mate... |
Dude, are you talking about like an MMORPG? Imagine that....having a huge meet in a lucid dream, everyone somehow dream-sharing together at the same time..... |
Lol, but there's alot we can't do in real life that we can in dreams |
I haven't yet had a partner to try this with however I've always thought it possible for two people to meet in a shared lucid dream. Who knows?? |
Woah. That would be.. tough. Imagine it.. all of us? Shared dreams haven't even been confirmed yet. I suppose if everybody who wants to play could give a description of themselves, and you imagine it when you go lucid. That'd be cool. |
It's possible. People do it all of the time, it's just called "Collective Dreaming". It just takes time. |

Kitsune, I just had the same idea last night! I think that would be a lot of fun. We would need to set up a type of dream construct. Similar to a lobby in an online game. This would be the central hub for meeting up in the matrix. We could write detailed descriptions of this place in the forum, and then we all try to visualize it in our mind when we go to sleep. Obviously it would require some patience, but I think we could do it. |
it might be possible... but! You have to be willing to spend at least a year on it.. also there's much more work... |
Am I crazy?
I'm in! If any of you guys put it together...that is; this game would be amazing. But right, what if the dream characters we've been meeting are other people dreaming at the same time? |
Sounds awesome but I agree, a lot of work would be needed. If a visual representation of this place were to be designed, It would make it much easier to "locate". We should get a basic/ roughdraft "matrix" to start with and see the results. If people are actually meeting up succesfully then the project should be furthered. If there are no results within about a month or two then it may be an lost cause to throughly pursue. But If it does work, its gunna take dreaming to the HNL(whole, nother, level). 8) |

"If you don't change your beliefs, your life will be like this forever. Is that good news?"-Douglas Adams
I could make a 2d game like this on player worlds, but i would need some mappers/developers. |
count me in too. This would be so awesome if it worked. |
Hellz ya, lol. But how would we know if we're actually meeting real people, and now people our minds make up |
i guess maybe count me in too |
Am I crazy?
yeah that would be sweet. but who would keep up the server? |
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster...
Oh yeah, we're gonna have the noobs (how i fly?), the bullies, the 1337 hax0rz, the whole nine yards of people that make up the society of an MMORPG. I think if someone kills you, you either wake up or respawn somewhere else.... |
I really dont think we will have to worry about noobs. If you dont know how to fly, how could you even reach the game? See my point. Also, I see no point in worrying about hacking cause everyone would be hacking. Thats just part of the game. Plus, these types of things will work themselves out with some play testing. The main thing to concentrate on is getting it to work. |

I'd like to reccomend a well known place be used - something very old and unique, like stonehenge or the collusium. I say this because there is already a strong image of it imposed on the astral plane from centuries of contemplation. If you invent a place, you will most likely each create your own individual mindscapes, making it much harder to connect to others. Just don't expect to be the only ones there when you go. You might even want to acquire a guide, just to be safe. |
i got an idea! |
Am I crazy?
Oh man...such an amazing idea. If we got it to work, who'd want to wake up? Haha....Anyways, I really agree with O'Nieronaut. Smack dab in the middle of Stonehenge would work perfectly. It's been embedded in everyone's minds since childhood, and pictures of it everywhere. Plus, it's unchanged throughout history, so no variations. You'll know you're in the wrong place if any detail is changed. I think creating some sort of avatar would work perfectly....create a picture or take one off the internet, and then set up a password net to confirm meetings within the "game". Like....Pair off into gaming buddies, or something like that general idea. Each person has their own unique "login", a name and password. What happens is they keep the password completely secret, only themselves and their "gaming buddies" know it. To start it off in beta, people would start trying to meet up in this place, knowing what their avatar looks like and everything. When they meet in the game, they would exchange logins. And hopefully, if the dream memory is good, they can wake up and write down that login in their book, and then find the name on the game forum. Then they find that person's game buddy, and send them a PM saying they think they met that person's game buddy, and give them the password. That makes it so a persons mind doesn't interfere and think, "Did I say that?" Or whatevs. Just straight facts, from the person who remembered to the person who knows the password. That would definetly start getting some serious results, as to if it works or what. It would also help to post up a TON of pictures, each a different angle, of stonehenge. And possibly, to set this place aside, place a logo or something on the table, and players can make sure it's the gaming construct rather then the actual stonehenge. After the proposed "beta" phase, of getting results on whether or not it works, it could progress into the construction phase. Now this is the idealistic example of what would happen...meaning if we got to the point where we were all meeting up in this pre-game stonehenge construct. We would all meet in this "construct" and then...I Dunno, join hands, but connect somehow, and all venture outside of the construct. Then, that way, all would be able to see the changes and the new world that had been created, rather then a constantly shifting place that differs according to perception. If it wasn't done all together, it would be impossible for people to venture out of the construct into the game. IT would be a different place for everyone, because I think if someone doesn't get the details EXACTLY right, it doesn't work. Alot could be done with this idea, but I think the MOST IMPORTANT detail is that things are kept simple in the meeting place. That is my biggest problem with meeting places they make online. They are much to detailed and complex. And if you don't get the details down exactly, doesn't that mean you're in a completely different place? Thus dream sharing is impossible...in MY opinion, in those kinds of places. |
Stuck somewhere in a place between here and there
what's stonehenge? |
Am I crazy?
Yeah, I like the idea of Stonehenge too. I was thinking along those lines, but that actually seems like a perfect solution (at least for the initial tests). We should try to keep everything beyond that extremely simple. Having specific passwords or phrases may be too much to remember. I suggest that everyone create a simple action or movement to differentiate their avatar. For example, clapping your hands, waving above your head, jumping in place, doing a backflip etc. Once you choose your move, dont tell anyone. Practice doing it when you get to the construct. If we can see other DCs in this construct, remember what they are doing. We can document this privately and then compare data to see if there is any relation. Obviously everyone would be free to hold conversations or devise their own mnemonic devices. I just think that actions are much easier to remember than what was said in a dream. We may also want to use colors too. So if somone touched one of the rocks they can turn it green (or their color) and all the members could take turns coloring the rocks. We can try to remember the sequence (green, yellow, blue, red, etc). This would be solid proof that the constuct was indeed an collective experience. |
