My first attempt at WILD (Help Please)

Last night I attempted a WILD for the first time. I followed the "5 Phases of WILD" to the letter, going to sleep at 11 pm, waking up at 4 am, then going to the bathroom, working out a few multiplacation problems, and getting a breath of fresh air. I then relaxed, imagining that I was gliding in the sky, and I started to see lights (although they were rather faint). After a while, I felt the tingling sensation over my body, and I was thrilled (this is my first attempt at anything like this). I tried to relax, and eventually the feeling passed. I felt my eyes moving rapidly (REM), and this also passed after a while. Then I was just staring at my eye lids, like I was back in the relaxation phase. Remembering the tutorial, I thought that only my "dream eyes" were closed, so I opened them and did some reality tests. Much to my dismay, I was back in the real world.

Where did I go wrong? Did I relax for the right amount of time (30 min)? Did I get caught up in the tingling sensation? Did I try to open my eyes at the right time? I am attempting this again tonight, so any help would be appreciated a lot.

If I were you, I wouldn't be discouraged. Nobody gets it on the first try. WILD is a hard technique to master. Have faith in yourself and try, try, try again. If you are dedicated you'll get it. Why not try variations in the technique? What works for someone else may not work for you..

You definitly did what you had to do. But keep in mind that you rarely succeed on your first attempt. Now that you know what it feels like, just try to stay in the same relaxed state, and don't fight the tingling sensation. Next step for you: Hypnagogic imagery.

It sounds to me like you may have "psyched yourself out".
I have the same problems when I try, I get excited, and say like, "Hell yeah!", or something similiar and knock myself off course.

      Keep trying
