      Afternoon Naps

      Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with naps--It seems I can never remember my dreams when I nap. It's so frustrating. Does anyone else have this problem? My dream recall is OK, nothing spectacular though. But I never go a night without remembering at least one dream. Why are my "nap dreams" so evasive?

That's odd because I'm the complete opposite. Most of my nap dreams are vivid and I can easily recall them.

How long do you usually nap for? What time of day? Everyone's different, so it may just be normal for you to not remember your nap dreams. But at least you're recalling at least one dream every night - that's good recall.

      REM

you usually get into the REM (dreams) stage when and if your body is lacking it - if you are 'down' on sleep and you go to bed, your brain will make up for that stage the most - maybe you are no lacking that stage or didn't take a long enough nap or something, usually naps don't give us enough time - when i take naps it's because i'm extremely tired and usually have a dream within 5 minutes - maybe this explains some of your question, i hope

maybe. i don't know--i feel like i'm perpetually lacking sleep, but i don't know. It was a two hour nap, which is a pretty good length, but it was kind of "drifting" in and out of sleep. That might have been a problem. The other nap I took was only an hour long--that might have had something to do with it.

I'll have to try again tomorrow and see what happens.

PS. My naps are usually at like 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

I'm like that to. I've good Dream recall. It's been a while since I've tried afternoon naps, when I did, I couldn't remember what I'd dreamt. I felt frustration to. Probably cause only reason I'd had a nap was to LD. Think that's either trying too hard, or being too invested in particular results. I've sometimes gotten this with WBTB as well, waking after 6hr's loads of dream recall, after I return to bed, I don't remember dreams? I've also found this to be my most reliable method, which has produced instant results. Good luck with it

it's sort of strange, actually--for me, if my nap naturally lasts longer than an hour, i typically remember nothing and wake up with a bit of a headache. however, if my nap naturally lasts about and hour or just under, i have usually just had an incredibly vivid dream and feel very refreshed. perhaps it has to do with your body choosing which kind of sleep you are catching up on.

When I nap, I mostly remember my dreams and even during naps I have most of my LDs. I learned that you have to be tired to sleep normaly or you will just "drift" in and out of sleep like thebeagle56 said. You need a quiet place to nap, but sometimes a sound will take you into WILD accidently and you will experience vibrations and eventually have a LD.

      I love naps.

Naps are always good for me.

I find that after being awake for a long period of time I can get supremely focused on entering my dreams and start my lucid dreaming as soon as my eyes close.

My naps are usually about 30-45 min in duration, which in dream time can seem anywhere from 1 minute to 3 days.
