      Scary Experience. Sleep Paralisis

Before i knew about LDing i used to get sleep paralisis. All of them were during the morning when it was light and i was never afraid of them, i just used to force my self awake. But yesterday night i had entered Sleep Paralisis for the first time since i joined this forum and it was during the night:

I fell asleep about 11pm listening to Cat Stevens on a cassett. I woke up about ten minutes later on my left side facing my door. I tryed to roll over onto my other side and relised a was paralised. Since this was my first time during the night ive had this i became afraid and shut my eyes straight away.

This is the list of happenenigs after i closed my eyes ( some of them are not in order )

      1) I felt my whole body go tingely (this lasted the whole time)

      2) I could feel my self litraly levitate over my bed (this lasted the whole time)

      3) I felt as if i was spining around realy realy fast (this lasted the whole time)

      4) I could hear strange wispering in my ear

      5) I opened my eyes to see if i could wake up but i say strange shadowy figures so i shut them straight away.

      6) I tryed to reasure my self but stopped as i could here my own vioce and it sounded destirned and scary.

      7) My back went bioling hot as if burning - no pain just heat.

      8) I could here my Cat stevens sing perfectly clear - reasuring me that i was awake.

      9) Tryed to fall asleep but could not.

      10) started seeing a strange light when my eyes were closed coming closer and closer.

      11) I prayeed that i would wake up. ( this my sound stupid but it was the most frightening experience ever!)

      12) I felt this huge wind around me

      13) I could feel this presence near me.

      14) I woke up suddenly, my heart beating fast.

I can not think why using WILD as a means to become Lucid is used! I hope this never happens again, the whole experience was so intence and real.

(I can understand how people may mistake this for being ubducted. Im glad that i already did reaserch on it before i had it. Also i understand that my pearents get this like i do aswell so i aint alone)

Sounds like a pretty wild and scary experience! I've never personally experienced sleep paralysis (although I think I was very close).

next time when you are in sleep parlysis stop and think

"I know i am awake, and i know that The Dream hasn't followed me into the waking world, for that would be phony."

Call me crazy, but it wil work. not only will it block the noises but it will also keep you concentrated on something other than the scary things.

If you get into that situation again (and it sounds like you could do, quite easily...can you do it at will?) try to relax, concentrate on your breathing. Concentrate in a detached way on the images you see, try to construct a scene, and imagine entering that scene.
SP is a good gateway to a WILD...

I have had the levitating, spinning and burning feelings in the few WILDs that I have done. The levitating and spinning don't bother me but the burning hurts like hell

I have never had any sound during one though, or HI actually, I'm usually just relaxing then suddenly I start to get all the weird feelings and a few seconds later I open my eyes and I'm in a dream.

Haha. I'm partially jealous and partially freaked out of my mind, which I guess you are too. I wish that I could have that kind of sucess with sleep paralysis in relation to WILD but that's the reason I've been putting off trying WILD. I've been working on my dream recall lately before i try WILD. Partially because of all the horror stories I've read about all the scary things that take place during a WILD. All I can say to help is before you fall asleep remind yourself that anything you experience is not real. Hope that you have better luck!

I can't believe that I never read this tread. I have had a similar experience as HyperNova’s. I was sleeping and was having an odd Lucid Dream. I was standing behind a car which was parked in a car park. I looked in the car through the back windshield and got the fright of my life, I saw a face that was warped and distorted staring at me.

Suddenly I felt my entire body jolt in my bed. It was like I was shocked with electricity. I woke immediately, my heart pounding and I could not move. While freaking out I slowly gained control of my body, it took about five minutes. In the five minutes, I could see figures pass by and I could feel the air brush up on my skin, Truly horrifying.

i've had a similar experience as well, to the point that i would eventually wake up nearly 20 minutes later, horrified, and try to stay awake to escape this, and fall asleep and go through it all over again about three times in a row b4 i finally fell asleep.

oh, um, to help people get out of this, i would suggest some meditation. in fact, this is indeed the first step to an OBE (Out of Body Experience).

I have had this since I was 3 years old, but I never was bothered by it (even at that young), in fact, I enjoyed it.

About when I was almost 16 years old, I soon got to have the 'Floating Sensation' in SP, which I think it the coolest.
And since SP a lot of times can lead to FAs, I usually perform a RC if I do struggle out of bed/my seat/whereever I am, and it can also lead to really crazy WILDs (and almost always does), and sometimes even stranger LDs than that. Like when I was in San Fran, I was in SP really fast in a mid-afternoon nap, and I just struggled out of my Hotel bed at around 2:20PM, and flew off to find my teacher. When I found her, I was following my teacher (it was a school business field trip), and she was shopping for clothes. It then started to rain really hard. I did not get wet at all (Rain seemed to act like it wasn't even there, because I couldn't feel the rain). I went back to my hotel bed at about 4:15PM.

The point is I think SP is kind of fun, but if you really want to escape it, don't struggle (unless you really want a dream like that one in San Fran I had), just call out to yourself to awaken, and you'll awaken!

      sleep paralisis

did you know that paralisis while sleep or (the hag) connects you with this waking or real world with the spritalworld thats why people see and hear strange things. those things are always here we just cant see or hear them
it is also the first step to having a OBE.
if a person was to have a OBE you would see and hear those things more vividly.
that is how i found this site i was researching OBE's through dream control
because by being lucid in a dream you can will your soul out of the body

by the way doing a WILD is also practiced by people who do OBE's
My life is like a whirlwind
Im just cought in the middle i let the world spin
too many shots of that XO got me earlin
im riding dirty and i really should pearlin
