      Missed Dream Sign

I know it is common to miss dream signs. Last night before I woke up for my WBTB LD technique, I had a dream of being in a large 8' wide shower with 2 shower heads. It also had two or three shower curtains. However, one of the curtains had a big square cut out of it. I thought it slightly odd, but didn't give it much thought.

I have even said in past dreams, "that's strange" but did not catch on. If in real life we cannot associate something strange as doing a RC, how in the dream do we associate strangeness with doing an RC?

I don't think that would work. When something strange happens in RL I immediately do an RC but in dreams I don't. Thats because in dreams those strange things feel normal to us. Even if ou do RCs everytime something strange happens you don't do them in a dream because as long as you are dreaming these things are not strange.

With me, it's not so much that I notice something strange as it is that I just get a feeling that something isn't quite right. That's when I will remember to do a RC.

Dreams like this are good to use with MILD. Part of which is telling yourself you could have become lucid when you saw a shower with 2 heads and 3 curtains and the next time you will become lucid. A successful LD from this technique will likely have nothing to do with showers but you will have raised consciousness enough to question something about the next dream.

On the other hand if you end up having a lot of dreams with showers in them, then you want to condition yourself to do an RC every time you see a shower. (Personally I've had much more success with MILD than with RCs tied to one dream sign)

      Dark Place

During the showering I remember that I was telling myself to enjoy the shower because soon I would be going to a dark place.

Shortly after that, I woke up to my alarm at 5AM. Good thing, since I would not have remembered it had I not woken up. A very nice experience, but with a sense of dread of what I woudl have to do in exchange for a favor I asked of some entity earlier in my dream.

Yeah. Last night, I was having a conversation with a guy sitting against a brick wall - and sinking into and out of it as I was chatting with him. I found it interesting - but missed the weirdness as a dreamsign!

The game for me with dreamsigns is to learn them and RC every time I see them in real life. The more I do this, the more I remember to recognize (and even think about) them in dreams. DILD is by far my favorite way to get into an LD, so I've really been concentrating intensely on this for a couple months now. Effective journaling is key to it all, of course.

Is DILD different from the WBTB? Or do you use WBTB to induce a DILD?

Dream Initiated Lucid Dream... recognizing a dream sign and RCing in a dream. WBTB can enhance the chances... but that's used more for WILDing as I understand it. The tutorial is here.

If you think missing that is bad, read what happened to me. One of my dream signs is falling and stumbling alot, in this dream I stumbled as I got out of a car, and fell over. Before I got up I thought "Ha, just like in my dreams" Then got up and walked away. How I didn't become lucid I don't know.

The first time I did a RC in a dream, I walked past some computers then walked by again, and the screens all changed...I was looking at them for a few seconds trying to figure out if I was dreaming or not, then decided I must be awake since everything seemed so real...what works for me is to tell yourself it would be cool to have a dream where you meet someone that helps you become lucid...

I didn't know what my guide would look like, but one time I was having all kinds of normal dreams, with many odd things going on, and I never though to do a RC...then, I feel like I wake up, but I'm in a psychologist office...I still didn't realize I was dreaming... She asked me, 'What were you just dreaming about?' 'I was just dreaming about saving you' I reply. Then she says, 'The way I figure out if I'm in a dream or not, is to look in a mirror. If I can't see my reflexion, then I know I'm dreaming.'

So now, -finally-, it hits me that I -might- be dreaming...so I walk over to a mirror that I hadn't noticed before, looked in, and say a black background with odd shapes/colors floating around inside...'I'm dreaming' I think to myself...but sadly woke up a few seconds later...

Anywayz I have become lucid many times from a character in my dream helping me...just try to have a dream where someone helps you become lucid...and remember any time you wake up and something isn't quite right to do a RC...I rarely become lucid by noticing something odd in a dream since it doesn't seem odd while I'm dreaming...

A very nearly missed dreamsign that happened to be a while ago:

I was in some kind of apartment complex with a square spiral staircase going up the floors. I'm climbing the stairs, and I'm completely naked. I arrive on one floor, and theres 4 black guys standing there, and I start talking to them. They laugh and say something about me being naked. I laugh and say "yeah, usually when I'm naked it means I'm dreaming, but I know I'm not right now!" We both laugh and I go back and start climbing the stairs again.

As I'm arriving on the next floor, I begin to really think about what I just said. Then it dawns on me- I AM dreaming! As soon as I realize this, the whole dream fades to black- but I can still hear and feel the dream. I shoot my hand forward and grab a doorknob, swing the door open, concentrate on what it should look like- anything to stay in the dream. But it doesnt work. After about 4 seconds of blind wandering, I wake up in my bed.
