My second WILD.. did I fail? need pro help..

I had two WILD attempts so far. I get no HS but i get a ton of HI.

My second WILD attempt took 45 minutes before i got HI and then it was suddenly gone after a couple minutes before it came back along with my whole right arm going so numb i thought it might explode. After words, as I kept relaxing everything went black and I started getting no HI except for a circle of light in the center of my vision (kinda like if you look at a bright light, and see the inprint of it when your eyes are closed.) at this piont i thought i failed. but, this circle pulsed with my breathing, and as soon as my mind wandered off a tiny bit and i thought of something (which happened to be my geography exam that i was to write the next day) I had something similar to a daydream but it was more vivid and i could smell, sense, see, hear and touch everything as in real life. I didnt think of this as a lucid dream at that exact moment but I tried changing stuff, such as you might do in a day dream if you didnt like what you imagined. After a total of around 15 seconds into the dream i thought that i might of had a succesful WILD!! As I did my reality check (which happend to be looking at my digital watch) I got all excited and i lost the dream, i could'nt hang on to it any more all tho i tried to dream spin. So i was back at stage 3 (relaxation) seeing HI and concentrating on my breathing. And after 5 minutes my mind went off topic again and th same thing happend, i had that vivid day dream of something (it was a first person of me standing in a dark hallway lookin at a bunch of gray lockers.) and again i did the same mistake, RCed to early got excited and lost my dream again. so again i ended up at stage 3 (relaxation) at this piont i noticed that the rythymatical ticking of my crappy ikea 1$ alarm clock stopped when i had this "daydream" during my WILD attempt. Also i noticed that as soon as i asked myself were the ticking noise went my dream started fading and i lost concentration. i couldn't concentrate enough for a third shot so i got angry, threw the alarm clock under my bed and slept the remaining 2 hours of the night.

So now that i finished this amazing WILD attempt story i would apreciate if some one could assist me and tell me if im doing this right.... or tell me how not too lose this "extremly vivid daydream" state in a WILD.. or better yet tell me if this "extremly vivid daydream" is what I am trying to achieve in a WILD. so if anyone could respond, after reading this that would be great. It would be nice if an expert who mastered the WILD technique could tell me if im on the right track.

O yea i didnt use capitals on the word i, not because i forget, or that i dont find the word i inportant.. its just that i have the smallest shift key imaginable on my laptop, and i have fat fingers

I had a whole lot of WILDs my first time around, there are several catagories I had thought up as miniature "stages". First of all, keep it up, I think a lot of people here know that the power of intending and expecting to have a lucid dream is our best tools to start, practice makes perfect, even if it is intending and expecting.

The mini "stages" start with the daydream starting into a dream. Basically the more you experience the WILD the more you will get used to it, and the more control you gain of yourself and the process.

Eventually you start becoming aware of the dream sooner and sooner where you are lucid while the hypnogogiac(correct me on that word) stage fades to a dream.

Finally you will become familiar with the actual experience of the entire process to the point you intend to experience the next step then the next then the next, but not by thinking it, but by imagining what the next step feels like. Actually the idea of imagining the next step is a shacky idea, from my personal experience I had to limit my own interaction during the WILD so I wouldn't start to analyze what is going on and flat out just go to sleep, or do anything that would start my internal dialogue and eventually get me out of the hypnogogia.

This is based from my personal experience and to me, this is a little bit like splitting hairs, because it is likely that you will prefer a style of experiencing the WILD. Also at the time, I wanted the most control of the Lucid Dream since I was only MILDing at the time, and this is my understanding of "most control". So, in a way I intended to experience those mini "stages" and your stages might be different, who knows, you might have finished your "stages" and you accomplished it, you just need to recreate it by intending a WILD and how you are going to experience it.

Just the fact alone that you accomplished a WILD is a really good start in consistently having lucid dreams. Keep thinking about your dreams, lucid dreams, how it felt in the dream, how it felt in the lucid dream, read about it, talk about it. I think during the time I had the most lucid dreams was during the time I was meeting more of my family who know I lucid dreamed. Every morning they would ask what I dreamt and if I became lucid, and they would always bring up the topic during the day about lucid dreaming, so it wasn't just myself reminding myself about lucid dreaming, my family also reminded me about lucid dreaming.

wow. thanks for the tips and for writing so much!

i believe its spelt hypnagogic. but i dont know

so you said that that was an accomplished WILD.. that makes me feel good, good enough to try it again tonight even tho i got my last exam toomorow.

The thing you said about the minny stages and not annalizing the dream at the beginning, I think that your absolutly right with that piont. So tonight i WILL attempt a WILD and as you said dont annalize the beginning, your right because as i remember as i starte to notice the ticking clock was gone, i awoke. So this time I WILL NOT NOTICE little details and NOT question anything.until my mind gets used to it and farther into the dream. and I think that if I dont constantly remind myself im in a dream then i will become deeper imersed in it (a problem could be losing luucidicy)

yea anyways if any one else has any more tips im all ears.

and ben i was looking forward to beeting u up

I'm not fully convinced as to whether or not you had an LD.

Have you ever had an LD before? Do you know how it feels to be in a dream, and yet fully aware and really...THERE.

The only reason I say this, is because you would KNOW if you had achieved a successul WILD. There would be no questioning it. If you are unsure as to whether or not you were in a dream or have to question that at all...then I don't think you made it past the hypnogogic imagery.

However, I think you have definitely made some amazing progress and from the sounds of it...you just need to be patient and let the HI transport you into a dream. You will know when this happens. Once you are there...stay CALM. That's very important. Take a minute and explore your dreamscape. The more of the details you look at, the more vivid it will become. Kneel down and examine the ground you are standing on or hold your hands up and look at your plams, examining all the wrinkles and such. This will make your dream, almost hyper-realistic and vivid.

      And good luck!
