      Lucid virgin needs some guidance

I only know about Lucid Dreaming for 3 days now, ive tried it two nights without much succes:
      Dream journal: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33466

2 tries, 0 sucess, hey im just starting so its not much to worry about. But i thought i could use some help nonetheless

I'll first describe what/who i am so that you may notice things that make it harder to have an LD

      - I use the PC through most of the day, about 8 hours or more a day, and also all the way up untill its bed time.

      - Im a disbeliever, i only believe things if i have expirienced them myself and know they are true. Now LD isnt something like fortune telling i know, but its still completely new and unheard to me and thats why its hard to really believe in it.
This makes it hard to really have the intention put into the words when i say i want to Lucid Dream at night..

      - I have a hard time getting to sleep. If im really really tired and its late it might take me 30mins to fall asleep, generaly it would take me 1 hour, sometimes 2 hours. If it takes longer then 2 hours i'll probably have an insomnia that evening and not sleep at all

      - My mind is chaos. I'm a real thinker, i think and think and think, and imagine, and fantasise, and contemplate etc.
This leads to utter chaos in my mind at times, which is particular noticable when trying to get to sleep. This might also be the cause why it takes me so long to fall asleep.
Words just fly through my mind like racing cars, and theres no orderly fashion in it. Ill think of a movie, of a game, of school, of having to find a study, ill of what to do for the team im in, about a movie again, about whats been said on a forum, about a game in creation etc. etc. its just totally insane.
This also makes it hard for me to focus just on getting a LD, since my thoughts keep wandering.

      - I had a really big nightmare problem as a child, this whole LD thing has brought those memories back and it kind of frightens me like a little kid again when i go to sleep and im all alone in the darkness of my room
Thats why i have to put music on and keep my dog with me, but the music does distract me a bit.

      - I go to bed late, like 1am-2am, so ill fall asleep around 3-4am and if i wake up 5 hours later its 8-9am, then i need to stay awake 1 hour which makes 9-10am and if i then go to sleep its morning and i cant sleep anymore!!

That being said, on to the questions...

The first problem is attaining WILD.
I mean, i got no clue about how an LD is, i got no clue about the 'signs' of entering WILD. I hear about HI and those things but i just dont have a clue what they would look like. I been pressing my fingers on to my eyelids with all sorts of pressures but i dont really get any images or anything

Also since my mind is utter chaos and it takes me so very long to fall asleep its hard to keep relaxed and focus on falling asleep
Secondly, how can i fall asleep if i have to keep my mind awake, this means i keep have to stay awake thinking things doing maths etc. but how then can my body fall asleep?
Another annoying part is that the second part where i go to bed after waking up 5 hours later etc. it is pretty light in my room and it shines in my eyes :S

I close my eyes and get all drowsy after awhile, but i keep having to stay awake with my mind, my body does feel tired and it gets heavy but then im not in a good spot to lie and turn around. Does turning around break WILD!?
Should i remain in the same position all the time?
Does my body get paralysed before seeing HI!?
      How do HI look like!?
Will all sounds from waking life dissapear before or after HI!?
Are HI really obvious!? So even somebodyw ith no expirience like me will immediatly see that HI have started!?

So this is the tactic i used:
Do RT all through out the day. I put on a broken watch that is at 11:30 all the time and do RT with that, and i look at my hands to see if theyre normal. I also carried a symbol with me of a green elephant and everytime i saw this card i did RT's

At night i read about LD's, had two cup of sleep tea. They have valerian etc. stuff that should make you fall asleep quicker.
I went to my room and sat down in a meditation style and just relaxed and tried to put my mind at ease.
I went to lie in bed, and kept telling myself "Tonight i will dream and I WILL look for dream signs. And when i wake up i will remember it"
I set my clock to wake me up 6 hours later

I did the Don Juan technique and looked at my hands and said "This is real, im not dreaming. But the next time i look at my hands i will be dreaming"

Then i did the CILD. Where i looked at my third eye Chakra and closed my eyes and kept looking at it for 3 mins. All that happend was that my eyes started.... hard to explain.... vibrate? Blink without opening my eyes? something like that.
Anyway nothing more happend so i just looked normal and tried to fall asleep entering WILD.

In the end i fell asleep without being aware, and i woke up 5 hours later, 15mins before my alarm clock would go off (I always wake up before the alarm goes of when i set an alarm, its weird)
No succes with dream recall, it felt like i had no dreams whatsoever.
So i went behind my PC, read about LD's for 1 hour and went back to back.

I tried to get WILD but once again no success, fell asleep without awareness..

Woke up pretty late, around 12:00 or so, i didnt remember any dreams, until 30mins later i was still in bed and turned around on my belly, suddenly all my dreams (as described in the journal) poored out of my head.
Yet, in none of them did i ever think about Dream Signs or doing a RT.
They were so real, its not like anything was extremly out of place like a green elephant hopping around (Thats what i hoped by looking at the card all day)
And i didnt even think or look at my watch ones...

Am i doing something terribly wrong? Got any tips?

Wow, that is a lot to digest.

      1. Keep trying. I see you started a Dream Journal, so keep up with that. Having good dream recall is important.

      2. Patience. Like you said, you have only been trying for 2 days. Don't panic.

      3. You need to believe that it is possible. I know what you mean by saying that you can't believe in something that you haven't experienced. I had a hard time with that as well. But, I did believe that it was possible. Trust me, we aren't all a bunch of wacko's that have banded together to talk about something that none of us have actually experienced. It does exist and you CAN do it. (it took me a few months, but it happened)

      4. HI- I think that it differs from person to person. It is not like watching a movie or anything. It is pretty subtle for me. In the dark, when you press on your eyelid you will see a bit of red or yellow, just the blood changing in your eye. That is kind of what it looks like. Don't get too hung up on it though.

      5. Get yourself some earplugs. Get an eyemask too. That will help you relax after the sun comes up. If not, you could put tinfoil on your windows and make it so no light comes in at all (not classy, but it is effective).

      6. You don't need to do math in your head. Just count every exhale. On your exhale say in your mind...1. On the inhale, say in your mind.... I am dreaming. 2, I am dreaming. 3, I am dreaming.... I have counted over one hundred before, but if you stick with it you will at least have a vivid dream.

      7. Read as much as you can. Read the tutorials page. There is a ton of great info in there. PM the people who wrote them. If someone writes something that you didn't understand, PM them.

      8. Believe and be patient.

      Thanks for the reply!
Yea i dont think anyone here is a wacko, but im always skeptic about things, i mean theres also people who say they are abducted by aliens or who still think the earth is flat hehe!

Thanks for the tips, ill try that counting thing!
But i think ill be counting till 6000 before i fall asleep :S

      Also in the FAQ
      http://www.web-us.com/lucid/luciddreamingF...reaming%20occur

      there at WILD

It says what may help is putting your bed 30 degree inclining
Do they mean that from head-to-toe your bed goes down, so your head is the highest and your toes the lowest?
      Or the other way around?

Thanks for the help! Really appreciate it!

I don't think the 30 degree change is going to make that much of a difference. I would just work on getting there. Also, i have found that the WBTB (wake back to bed) method is great for achieving results. Although, you said you don't get much sleep this could be difficult because you would be in your deep sleep most of the night. Read some tutorials on the WBTB and start seeing incredible results.

I've went straight into a lucid dream once during WBTB method. It has to be because your mind is aware that you are about to dream. Good Luck.

Admittedly, I haven't read your entire post. I was too lazy for that. I still think I can give you some tips though.

First of all believing really helps with anything in dreams. I'm normally someone who doesn't believe something they haven't seen as well, but when there's a perfectly good explanation for something, then there's no reason to doubt it, is there? That's why you might want to read up on why lucid dreaming is definitly possible and is by no means a spiritual thing like for instance astral projection.

About the nightmares. there's not much you can do about them until you've learned to have lucid dreams, at which point you'll be able to confront them and put them out of your mind forever. The fact that you're thinking of them again might cause you to relive them in your dreams though. Horrible as that may sound, you can use it to your advantage by realizing that you're dreaming and confront your nightmares (might wanna read up on that too if you haven't)

It's best to start by learning to have DILDs, using reality checks and autosuggestion. WILDs, unless you're naturally skilled at inducing them (which I assume you're not), are harder to learn and it's therefore better to focus on them after you've gotten at least one dream induced lucid dream.

Finally, I recommend you read "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreamin" (EWLD) by Stephen LaBerge. This book is generally considered to be the "lucid dreaming bible". It's very interesting and contains everything about lucid dream, from their history to how to induce them to what to do with them and how and why we dream.

I hope you can use any of these tips and that you have a lucid dream soon. Good luck.
      A dream
is a reality that others cannot see.
      Reality
is a dream you share with others.
