WBTB A Struggle For Me, Please Help!

Hi everyone! I just wanted help with attempting WBTB. I have my wristwatch (which I wear all the time) alarms set to 2:59 and 3:00, it has two alarm settings. I eat and drink quite alot before going to bed. The problem is, none of these work! Can anyone give me tips as to how to wake up? Thanks in adavance.

PS: I am young so I can't take any drugs like B6, just tell me some foods that help. Thanks again.

      Hey there Sean!

For me, the best way to awaken in the middle of the night is to use auto-suggestion. When lying in bed trying to go to sleep, I'll repeat to myself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream", until I fall asleep. Usually this causes me to wake up after several hours with a dream fresh in my mind. Give it a try -- it may not work the first few times, but you can probably train you mind to do it.

Is the alarm not waking you up? If that is the case you might be trying to wake yourself during you deep sleep periods. You might want to adjust the times so that you are sleeping lightly and can hear the alarm. Also, the alarm might be muffled under your pillow or covers so that it wouldn't be as loud as you think. I set the alarm on my phone for 5 hours after i fall sleep.

You don't need the b6 for a WBTB. As long as you have fairly good recall you will remember if you went lucid or not.

Aye, auto-suggestion is a good thing. But doing it half-hearted is as effective as trying to run through a wall while awake.

Something I tried myself and it seems to work most of the time is to set up your alarm clock to real early in the morning, even if you don't hear it it won't be necessary - you just need to believe it. Then struggle to fall asleep as quickly as possible, always believing that you need to get up real early to do some annoying task.
This allows me to wake up several times during the night, even before my alarm clock rings. You can tweak this to fit your personal WBTB requirements.
The eventual worry about waking up early should keep waking you up before the alarm clock rings. This could be either a good thing or quite annoying, depending on what you're using it for. I myself found it to be great to dream recall.

However... I don't recommend doing this when you really do have affairs in early morning, as the struggle to fall asleep will eventually keep you awake for quite a while. (plus the times you would wake up later on, which would totally ruin the good night's sleep needed to get up early)
